Yes I do.. you never know what you might find on a trip to arty Fremantle. On Wednesday a passenger liner, 4th pic down, was in dock so the harbour and town were busy with tourists enjoying the sights. Parking at the harbour before walking through to the city is a must to see my favourite blue fishing boats and prove that I do have the will-power to resist the aroma of freshly caught fish cooking in Cicerello's.. but not always :)
Walking past J Shed, a collection of artist's studios, you never know what you might find out front, on Wednesday it was a silently honking gaggle of geese/ducks?
A bit of local Freo news below, sadly the gorgeous Bella, sculpted by renowned local artist Greg James has been stolen! Read about it here and you will know exactly which sculpture I mean, I have posted a pic of P posing with her. She weighed in at 150kgs so it wouldn't have been easy.. I fear for her safety and cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would do this. Although it was a month ago let's hope she will be found safely. Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..
...I 'love' the sign!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Wow, hard to believe no one saw Bella being stolen....not an easy thing to hide! Hope she turns up.
ReplyDelete… and I love your photos! All the beautiful skies make me happy after all the rain of today!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Grace! ☀️ 🎶

Who on earth would want to steal Bella?
ReplyDeleteOh no! Fred ran off with Bella!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how they (Police, I'm guessing) know the exact time of her departure without catching the criminal.
Awesome pics
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable that people could steel her. The blues in the photos are lovely!
ReplyDeleteI really like that yellow sculpture in the 3rd pic, Grace! And the geese/ducks. I guess Bella was worth $$ for the scrap metal trade. That happens here too. ;-(
ReplyDeleteVery cool sign. We had a statue of Yeats in Sligo stolen almost a year ago and it still hasn't been recovered.
ReplyDeleteThat is terrible about Bella. The port looks rather busy. I wish we had spent more time in Freo. There is so much to see.
ReplyDeleteOkay, that is crazy to steal a wonderful statue like that. I hope they get her back very soon. How on earth do you hide a statue like that? I'm kind of wishing I was among those tourists enjoying the sights.
ReplyDeleteI cannot understand why anyone would steal poor Bella! I hope she is recovered too.
ReplyDeleteKeep us up on Bella, please
ReplyDeleteWonderful, Grace. Awwwww.... I could not read your blog if I was at work, people would look at me like I´m a tad crazy ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love that sign!
Hmmm. Guess they had a bad day when we were at Cicerello's. The fish was really oily...
The yellow man is new, too, or was I blind? Next time Ingo wants to ride the eye - without me!
Yes, it was in the news. How dumb must one be to steal Bella (or any established artwork, or artwork in general).
Glad I still have that picture... Hope she comes back!
Belas fotografias, gostei de ver e aproveito para desejar e bom fim-de-semana.

Yes stolen bronzes are happening all over the world now. What a pity.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity, why do people such stupid things, just to get money for it?
ReplyDeleteThat sure was a lovely walk but ended with a bummer! Sad.
ReplyDeleteYour photos make Freo look most inviting. Don't think I could resist the fish. How low to steal Bella. At 150 kg she must have been taken by a group of people. Hope she can be recovered.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your photographs Grace, but what a shame about Bella.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Why would someone steal Bella? That is insane! I haven't been down to Fremantle in ages, think I need to go have a wander, great photos and some interesting art works to investigate when I get down there. Thanks for the reminder of what is on my doorstep.
ReplyDeleteLove the new Freo sign and the Geese. I was sad when I heard that Bella had been stolen, I do hope she appears soon, she was such an iconic statue in Fremantle.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy a dip in the pool this weekend :)
Very nice pictures.
ReplyDeleteWonderful the shots with the water of the harbor.
So great to see that cruise ship.
Greetings, Marco
Oh I hope they find it too. What great artwork and a lovely day to be out there.
