School's out for summer..

It's that time of the year again, it arrived so fast my head is spinning.. where the heck did 2019 go! Watching the school kids at Hillarys Boat Harbour keeping cool and having fun made me think of the Alice Cooper hit School's Out for Summer, there you go, now you can have it stuck in your head too 😉 My Sydney famille arrive tomorrow, for three weeks this time, so here's wishing you an excellent Christmas and all the very best for the New Year. Take care and stay safe until I see you back here on the 10th January 2020.. à bientôt 💙

All I want for Christmas..

What happened to 'all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth' :) Great excitement yesterday when my neighbour had a pool put in.. I imagine with the weather we are having lately there are more than the normal amount of swimming pools flying through the air. The preparation took all day, the pool when it arrived took 15 mins to plop into place. To get the pool over the electricity wires and the house a bigger than normal crane was used, that's the pool above swinging by over my garage, holding my breath I watched with my super excited eleven year old neighbour.. it brought back memories of my two, much younger, when we had our pool put in.. 30 years ago, how time flies. Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

A different kind of fishing..

A few posts ago I took pics of a man in a boat fishing in the shallows, yesterday it was a man with a metal detector. Couldn't help wondering what he was searching for and then on Googling I found this video and it all became clear.. there is treasure to be found in them thar waters :) Wonder how many rings and earrings he found! Have any of you tried this? Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. gorgeous treasure hunting companions he has there 💙

Wily Mr Fox..

We are all different
but there's something kind of FANTASTIC
about that, isn't there?

You can't keep a wily fox in! Spotted the sly fox here sawing his way to freedom when we were in Bunbury earlier this year. Signed in the corner by 'adj'. I took pics of a lot of the fabulous street art in Bunbury, I like to pop one in here and there :) Hope you had/are having a super weekend, happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

Doors of perception..

The city reflected in the closed doors of Fraser's Restaurant. Sorry I haven't been around much in the last two days, the weather is tiresomely hot and tres exhausting, especially when one is hobbling around trying to get a million things done 😉 Big catch up today. Hope you are having a super weekend, take care and stay safe..

All alone in the big blue sea..

On the way home yesterday we stopped by the beach to admire the gorgeous colour variations in the ocean. I couldn't help wondering what the chap above, floating in the shallows, his fishing rod set, was hoping to catch. After a bit of Googling I now know that in the shallow sandy areas between reefs, as above, there is whiting and tailor to be caught and in autumn if you are lucky, salmon.. who knew! It was around the 39C point when I took these shots, I really hope he was covered in sunblock! Back to the car and the air-conditioning pronto 😎 Happy weekend, take care and stay safe.. P.s. can you see him there below!

Christmas with a touch of the tropics..

We visited a family member in hospital today, was delighted to see the staff getting into the Christmas spirit. Christmas with a tropical feel that is, which so perfectly suits the uncommonly hot weather here right now.  If it carries on this way it's going to be an unbearably long summer! They say summer is a state of mind.. thinking chilly, icy, snowy, frosty, rainy thoughts.. feel cooler already 😉 Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..

Playing cards with a French twist..

The history of playing cards is long and sometimes confusing. Beginning in China around the 1200's introduced to Europe in the 1300's and over to England around 1480. Today’s 52-card deck preserves the four original French suits of centuries ago: clubs (♣), diamonds (♦), hearts (♥), and spades (♠). I'm sure I don't even have to tell you who designed the fabulous pack of cards here but I will anyway :) My favourite artiste français Tankateo illustrates one deck of playing cards a year and publishes it as a limited edition and I was lucky to get the last pack in her current series. Pick a card, any card.. they're all fabulous ♥ Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. thanks so much for all the good wishes re my injured foot, has slowed me down temporarily but not for long😉

Growing green..

Despite the heat the green walls around the city are surviving well, a testament to a good trickle irrigation system and excellent choice of plants used. I am the trickle system in my garden, the reticulation deals with the lawn and flower beds but I prefer to water my pots by hand, they are a bit like friends.. I like to keep an eye on them to see that they're doing ok :) The green wall here in Cathedral Square outside the City of Perth Library. Below my stylish new footwear for the next few weeks, tres chic oui 😉That'll teach me to look where I'm going! Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

A bit of a rant!

When you park like a tool you make people mad.
When you make people mad they write you notes.
When they write you notes they're wasting their time.
When they waste their time they get more mad.
Or is it madder?
Now they're doubting their grammar.
Don't make people doubt their grammar.

I was seriously tempted to leave it. It drives me mad when some people think that the yellow lines don't apply to them, especially at the moment when parking is premium.. last spot in the car park and P had to climb over to the passenger side to get out. Of course there is always another solution, we could catch the train into the city 😉 What bugs you enough to leave a rude note? Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe.. P.s my foot is a wee bit broken!

Last week when were in Midland I spotted, hard to miss, the fabulous huge endeavour here by Perth artist Jarrad Martyn on the wall of a factory/warehouse. The mural 'references the building owner's lifelong interest in flying. The young child playing with the toy plane encourages associations to the sense of wonder and adventure that flying evokes.' Not easy to get close to the far side of the building, much better shots of the boy playing with toy plane here on the Remember Midland page. Happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

Trains and boats and.. buses.

You can see from the changing colours of the water in the Swan River that we had a much cooler, cloudy day yesterday.. even a wee bit of rain, was lovely after the last few scorchers. In Kings Park for a walk I took these shots from above looking down across the freeway to the river. The gondola from Gondolas on the Swan looked tiny from up there but it was by no means the smallest boat afloat. I'm going to be brave one of these days and take that romantic ride on the Swan :)

The above shot was the last shot I took before standing on a honky nut (gum nut), and face planting on the path, camera flying from hand. The camera survived, whereas I, as well as dented dignity have damaged my foot, thank heavens I was wearing jeans, could have been awkward :)  Have to keep off my foot today, ex-ray and ultra sound to come. Why do these things always happen at the busiest of times! Still it could have been a lot worse.. got to look at the positives right 😉 Happy Sunday, take care and stay safe..

They're still there!

Little girl looking up 'what's that mummy?' Mum dragging eyes away from phone 'I'm not sure, an octopus I think' eyes back to phone.. little girl looks back as they walk away. A most unimaginative explanation I thought, where are the kraken and pirate ship emojis when you need them 😉 Happy Saturday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. how those plastic tentacles stay pert in 40C s a mystery to me!

Visit James to see more Weekend Reflections around the world..

You can keep your hat on..

When is an umbrella not an umbrella, when it's used as a parasol! It was a scorcher in the city yesterday, 40 something I believe, 42C tomorrow, oh joy.. not! Never mind, it's slip! slop! slap! (cute Aussie video) time again, earlier than usual but hey c'est la vie! Good to see so many hats on heads although there were still many without.. including moi, next time for sure 😉 Happy Friday, take care and stay safe... phew :)

A weird and wonderful landscape..

The only time to go hiking in summer is really early in the morning before the heat of the day settles in. Here we are in Ellis Brook Valley 20km south east of Perth, you can just see the city skyline way back there on the misty morning horizon. So, would you like to...

... wipe your feet please, we don't want to spread any dieback which 40% of WA's native plants are susceptible, and come along with me..

... through arches of dried branches, crossing over streams that before too long will dry up until the next rains, opening up ...

... into green once more.

Just when you begin to wonder if there is anything pretty in the bush the gorgeous soft powder-pink puff balls of the flowering gum tree appears.. there were actually many lovely native flowers along the way, but macros are Aimee's forte, I lean towards the big picture :)

Looking up the intensity of the blue sky is a sign that it is time to head back before things heat up, taking it from a pleasant hike.. to not such fun! There you are and you didn't even have to get hot and bothered :) hope you enjoyed the walk, happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

A dash of colour..

Looking down to Cathedral Square from the upper level of the City of Perth Library. Love that the tables are painted in rainbow colours but a few umbrellas wouldn't go astray in summer, did I mention those relentless blue skies 😉 In an article I read today it said that if we don't change our wicked ways Melbourne and Sydney could be experiencing 50C in a few years.. imagine that 50C mon dieu! Thinking cool thoughts, happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..
