Pills and potions..

I could do with a magic pill or potion right now, any suggestions :) Fun and appropriate mural found on the Community Pharmacy in Wanneroo. I feel that I should know who painted it, I recognise the style but my brain refuses to make the connection! Any ideas Sami? Hope you are happy and well, thank you again for your patience, have a fab week, take care and stay safe..

In the summertime..

...  when the weather is fine :) I didn't have to go far for this fantastical mural painted by one of my favourite Perth artists Peter Ryan whose work you have seen here many times. Adorning the walls of the facilities for the children's beach area at Hillarys Boat Harbour this colourful beauty is perfect in this spot that is so popular with young families and their toddlers. Hope your week is going well, take care and stay safe..

White hot in the city..

In the city for my final 'after eye surgery' check up on Friday.. got an A+ :) It was another in a long stretch of over 40C in Perth, 42C to be precise, the city was white hot, heated to full incandescence, the only thing to do was eat gelato and add colour.. looking forward to tomorrow, it's going down to a cool 38C :) Have a fab weekend, keep cool, keep warm, stay sane but most of all be safe..

The treasure you seek..

Sometimes you unexpectedly come across the wisest words right there in black and white with a splash of colour on a wall as you step along the sidewalk! Truer words were never written. Painted by Zoe Kerbey for Treasured Youth Co. We are having a heatwave here in Perth.. it has been long and exhausting :) Happy new week, take care and stay safe..

Healing reflections..

A walk in nature.. the best remedy for anxiety attacks. There is something about the greens and browns of the bush combined with the blue of the sky peeking through that has a more soothing effect than anything a doctor can prescribe. No matter the heat, or the weather in general, there is always that hidden spot in nature that can help to restore one's equilibrium :) these shots taken at Noble Falls.  Happy weekend, take care and stay safe..

Pardon my existential crisis...

Before sharing details of the superb mural here I would like to thank you for sticking by me through what I call my existential crisis :) It is heartwarming to see the familiar treasured names when I pull myself together enough to put up a post. I hope soon to have the energy for full steam ahead! Above a small section of a much larger mural painted by Australian Visual Artist Jerome Davenport aka Ketones6000. The skin tones, the expression in eyes a trademark of the artist's incredible talent which can be seen in many cities around the world. Hope you are happy and staying safe.. any day now you will see my name pop up on your comment list 😊

Splish splash I was taking a bath..

Blooming heck it's hot! What a couple of weeks it's been.. with little relief ahead. Christmas Day at 43C was the hottest Christmas since the 1968 I believe. Who still believes the world is not exponentially heating up around the world.. ok if you are in the Northern Hemisphere you might not agree right this minute but wait until summer comes around :) I worry a lot about the birds in this weather, the bird baths in my garden are always full and well used, here on an early morning walk every little water hole is taken advantage of for a quick cooling dip. I don't often see the Australian ringneck, couldn't resist the flash of colourful under feathers in this exuberant escapade. Happy weekend, take care and stay safe..

Ghost of the Alkimos..

If ever there was a ship that was cursed it was the merchant ship the Alkimos. After running aground several times along the coast of Western Australia its final resting place back in 1964 was here, 56 km north of Perth near Quinns Rock. The beautifully buoyant mural by Perth artist and illustrator Paul Deej rather belies the dark history of the Akimos, which if you are interested you can read about HERE..

This is all that is left of the ill fated Alkimos. The ship was said to be haunted by the ghost of Henry after reports of sightings of a man dressed in oilskins on board the wreck, spooky! You won't catch me going anywhere closer than with my long lens.. whether it be true or not :) I'm going to try and catch up with you this week, take care and stay safe..

Favourite photo(s) from 2021..

Happy happy New Year! As is the custom the new year theme for CDP'ers around the world is a favourite photo from the previous year. I never find it easy to pick just one so here a mixture of seasonal shots that appealed to me. The last four months have not been easy both in a personal and family way, one thing is certain, we should make the most of every precious moment. I loved the whimsy of the first two shots, bees and butterflies enjoying a spring feast..

After a Christmas day top temperature of 43C preceded and followed by equally blistering weather...

... I am looking forward to winter days such as the two below..

Never can resist a lighthouse shot :)

Night views overlooking the city from Kings Park..

And as always I am delighted and never take for granted that I can step out of my back door to be greeted by the many fabulous birds that visit my garden like the cheeky Kookaburra here :) I am finding it difficult to get back into the daily posting routine so my plan is to start off slowly with Monday Murals and Weekend/Street Reflections and hopefully build up to speed again. Once again thank you for the kind messages and hopefully a wee bit of patience until I get my act together :) Take care and stay safe..
