'Even the smallest steps move you forward'..

'Take small steps each day. You might not get there today but you will be closer than yesterday'..

Do you see a theme developing here :) Two new views of Perth city that I didn't climb any steps to take. I usually take this view of the city from right on the South Perth foreshore, the shot above taken from Mill Point Road, will show you tomorrow from where I took the shot below. It may sound weird but I love climbing stairs and steps, incidental exercise and all that, very frustrating when it's not possible.. only for a while! Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

The conversation..

I apologise straight up for the quality of these shots, they were taken through double glass but it was such a cute little scenario that I couldn't resist. It was another scorcher yesterday, the birds are feeling it too. Outside my window I have a Japanese maple tree, the branch Mr and Mrs are sitting on is, let's say.. dead :) I won't cut it off though because it is directly above the birdbath and makes an excellent spot for birds to perch and if the need arises dive into the water. You may be wondering what is stopping the pair of galahs doing exactly that and what they are looking down on...

The two shots below are the worst quality but imagine the galahs on the branch just above waiting  patiently for the bossiest and smallest of the birds that visit my garden, the lorikeets, to quench their thirst. The feisty lorikeets get first dibs on everything in the garden and I suspect in the wild also! I have three bird baths around the garden, in this weather they are always full of water. Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

'Gentlemen prefer blondes'..

"A wise girl know her limits, a smart girl know she has none..MM

Marilyn Monroe certainly was the epitome of a glamorous blond. Spotted the mural yesterday on the wall of 'Flair Today' in Victoria Park. There must be more murals and posters of the iconic MM than any other female movie star of the 1950/60's. I think she was not only gorgeous but intelligent and very funny also. Couldn't find an artist name on this one which is a shame it is beautifully painted. Sorry about the parking post in centre of her face below.. we are no longer in the 1950's :) Happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

Dear weekend, I like you.. love me xx

'May your weekend be filled

 with positive thoughts, kind people

 and happy moments'.. 💙

The view from Clancy's Fish Pub taken a few weeks ago. I have strict instructions from my physio, no climbing ladders, steps or hills for four weeks.. it's life on the flat for moi :) Happy weekend, take care and stay safe..

The cat, the falcon and the dove..

What a commotion in the back garden! The Australian Hobby here had trapped a dove in the hedge, look at those talons! The cat was advancing rapidly on both birds. P dived in, the small falcon flew out, not going far it watched from atop the shed. As P separated the branches the dove flew out, the falcon swooped but the cat was too fast and won the prize! Don't worry, there was a happy ending to this backyard drama. P rescued the shocked dove from the cat, put it in a bucket with food and water, covered the top with a blanket and hung it safely up on the patio beams. In the morning it had recovered and flew off as soon as the cover came off, hopefully to live a long and happy life.. I can hope right :) It's a tough old world out there! Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..

The power of a good book..

'There is nothing more luxurious than eating while you read - unless it be reading while you eat'.. E.Nesbit..

This was an impulse shot as we were walking through the Perth Cultural Centre last week on the way back to the car. The young lady eating lunch, immersed in her book seemed undisturbed by the chaos around her. The Cultural Centre is like a building site at the moment, scaffolding for the new rooftop space on the Art Gallery WA has taken over temporarily. Looking forward to that space opening hopefully soon, the city views should be excellent. Must admit the world around me disappears when reading good book, how about you :) Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

Sunset sculptures..

We did make it back to Sculpture by the Sea on Monday evening, just in time before the last day of the event for this year. Not many photos I'm afraid, I seem to have injured myself again, something to do with the hamstring muscle in my left leg, ex-rays will reveal all today, but as a result walking on the beach was impossible so these shots taken from the walkways. So many ways I could have injured it, from uprooting mature trees to climbing up and down ladders to paint ceilings.. are you the same, if you want something done you just DO IT :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

Coffee goddess..

Spotted a glimpse ahead, last shot, of the gorgeous mural here as we were walking along Murray Street in the city. The mural titled 'Coffee Goddess' was commissioned by One 60 Cafe and painted back in October last year by WA muralist and portrait artist Susan Respinger. The brief was 'a mural relating to coffee or the coffee plant with a creative twist so I created a coffee goddess character with a coffee plant for hair which flows down the entire length of the cafe'. She is a beauty and the coffee is excellent  also :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

What a weekend!

Omg I am so over summer but although it was a scorcher of a weekend it didn't keep Perthites at home.. myself included :) On Saturday evening Aimee and I went to Cottesloe Beach to take some sunset shots of the sculptures.. not a chance! There wasn't a parking spot to be had for miles, we did however enjoy the sunset along the coast on the way home, got to make the best of a situation right :) Yesterday we thought it was going to be a double whammy when we went to the Upmarket held in the stunning Winthrop Hall and surrounding grounds at UWA but just as we thought about giving up the parking gods came to the rescue! We both did pick up a few goodies but the heat and the crowds were OTT so the visit was short. What did you get up to this weekend? Happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

Weekend reflections..

Definitely reflections and if you look you will see there is a wee bit of a street scene action also :) Can you think where this might be? The reflection below holds a big green clue 😉 Hope you have a really good weekend, take care and stay super safe..

In a world full of roses be a sunflower ..

I don't think there is any flower that says hot like the sunflower! Snapped the two shots here just before we left the city yesterday. Despite, or most likely because of the heat the Urban Orchard in the Perth Cultural Centre is ablaze with sunflowers.. the quote 'a sunflower field is like a sky with a thousand suns' comes to mind. 36C for the next two days and we are well into the first month of autumn! Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..🌻

Sculpture by the Sea.. last hurrah.

A few random shots from Sculpture by the Sea especially for you Iris, I know how much you would have loved to be there. A real treat for you if have a spare two minutes I would really love you to have a look at the video here it gives a wonderful overview of the sculptures and beautiful Cottesloe Beach, wouldn't mind some feedback as to whether the link worked I'm never 1005 sure, merci beaucoup :) Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

Sculpture by the Sea encore et fini (for a while)..

I'm trying something new when downloading, so fingers crossed! Loved the three sculptures here snapped as we were leaving Sculpture by the Sea, excellent link,  Loved the quirkiness of the sculpture above and below titled 'Gotcha!' by Danish sculptor Helle Rask Crawford. 'Gotcha depicts a frog prince who has just caught a fairy. What will ensue? Only the two of them will know.' Conversation overheard between little fellow in pic and his dad.. 'dad he's not going to eat her is he?' Dad, 'no he's just giving her a kiss' .. too cute :)

Below 'Reflecting' by WA artist Jill Smith. 'The Earth..it's life , energy and meaning is in part a collection of actions. The choice begins as a thought'.. It does indeed!

'Heads it is' below by WA artist Paul Caporn is 'an unmonumental monument pointing to the idea that the way we memorialise and celebrate our great moments and people in history requires a rethink in these current times'.. Personally I feel the way we live our lives needs a major rethink in many areas going forward into the future!

There are so many sculptures to show but think I will hold on those until we get back to take sunset shots, love doing that! Can't believe this post went so well, was determined not to let the computer gremlins win :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..
