Messing around in boats..

A little bit of messing around with photo above also :) Took these shots from atop the new lookout point at Whitfords Nodes, already nicknamed the Jacobs Ladder of the North, not anywhere near a true comparison, check out images of the Kings Park Jacobs Ladder HERE.. my next challenge :) but believe me I won't be running up and down them numerous times like the stair fitness enthusiasts. The views over the marina and Indian Ocean are fabulous though, will go back when it is less crowded and there is a blue sky. Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

In full colour..

It may have been a rainy few days in Perth but the city is right into Shop in Full Colour mode. Planters brightly painted and brimming with spring blooms, trees along the streets of the city wrapped in colour, not to mention the seating pods! I believe you don't have to have rain to see rainbows but spring rain is the perfect icing on the cake 🌈 Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

Dreams of Flight..

I came across the mural 'Dreams of Flight' while passing through Raine Square in the city last week. Painted by Perth muralist Jack Bromell, you can see more of his fabulous work here. In the words of the artist 'the Western Spinebill honeyeaters reflect a moment in nature in a dreamlike fashion.'  I love this one, especially above where the butterfly comes to rest on the honeyeater's nose and of course it's in all my favourite shades of blue 💙 Hope you had a wonderful weekend, happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

Playin' around..

Can you spot the reflection in the mirrored ceiling of the walkway below.. amazing how much fun you can have by taking snippet of a shot, add a touch of this and a smidge of that and hey presto, a photographic abstract :) It has been a super sunny spring week in Perth but a rainy change is predicted.. fingers crossed :) Happy weekend take care and stay safe..

Araluen Botanic Park encore et fini..

A few more shots of our trip to Araluen Botanic Park on Monday to show that it is not only the tulips that draw visitors to this magical park, there is much more that is a joy to behold all year round.. waterfalls, beautiful old trees, streams running through, lush green under-planting and more. It is one of the prettiest places to visit at any time of the year. The old wisteria that grows over the Chalet Healy Cafe above and last shot is spectacular in spring and summer. I hope that the newly replanted old wisteria in my back garden recovers and grows as well as this over the next few years, it really is a wonderful sight to see. Looking forward to visiting in autumn. Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..

Spring at Araluen Botanic Park..

We almost didn't make it this year, we were a little late to visit the Yates Spring festival at Araluen Botanic Gardens. We did however rally on Monday and with my sisters went to see the gorgeous display of 150,000 tulips, usually planted by the garden staff and many volunteers but because of Covid the gardeners put in a momentous effort to get the bulbs planted in time. Not only tulips but thousands of other spring flowering bulbs.. a sight to behold. There was no tiptoeing through the tulips  rather a stroll.. under the magnificent tall trees where the air is fresh and clear is always an uplifting experience. Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe.. 🌷

Historic Heart of Perth..

I often show you all the beautiful heritage buildings in Fremantle but we do have our fair share here in Perth also. Whereas Fremantle is known more as a historic city, high-rise and skyscrapers are always present lurking in the background in Perth City. The architecture here is just a small selection from the Historic Heart of Perth. Beginning at the top end of Murray Street with the rather magnificent St Mary's Cathedral (excellent aerial shot on link) and working our way down to the centre of the city. I do love old architecture don't you 💙 Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

Naughty kitty..

Who hasn't left a cup of tea alone unguarded only to find a feline interloper helping itself to a sip or lick.. I don't even officially own a cat but my tea/coffee is fair game to the neighbourhood pussy cat who loves spending time with me in my garden :) Came across the mural here, one of three in the Pier St. Laneway, by Perth mural artist Drew Straker as we were walking through the Historic Heart of Perth last week. Straker's unique murals are created using only spray paint and a 'neon glow' technique, the artist states it's all about illusion, you can see him at work here, very clever. Will show you some of the architecture from this area tomorrow. Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

Size does matter..

In this case it's not so much about size more about quantity. The 5.5m swan here in Yagan Square created over the weekend using 10,000 plastic drink bottles highlights the fact that according to statistics here in WA we consume the contents of 10,000 said bottles every four minutes! The Containers for Change recycling scheme begins on October 1st, you can read about it here. It was my favourite kind of day, rainy with the hint of blue sky now and then, tricky for photos but perfect for coffee :) Hope you had a good weekend, take care and stay safe.. P.s. I honestly can't remember the last time I consumed anything out of a plastic bottle can you?

If it ain't broke don't fix it!

I found the two paste-ups when in the city last week, the one above made me smile. I wondered how many like me are fed up with the new changes to blogger and might have had a similar reaction.. well maybe not quite so dramatic but, if you were to ask P he'd probably say not far off it 😉 Actually it's not that bad once you get used to it but I don't understand WHY! Below, if guns were bananas how much better the world would be, after you had uttered the words 'hands up or I'll shoot' you could have a laugh and eat it. I know right, sadly in another reality. Hope you have a good weekend, take care and stay safe..

Bella is back..

Not the original much loved by the people of Fremantle Bella who you have seen here before, she was unfortunately stolen in October last year by a Fremantle man who has been jailed for nine months. Unfortunately the original buxom Bella created by local Freo artist Greg James and weighing in at 150 kg was never found, presumed cut up for scrap metal. Bella 2 is now sitting much more securely on her bench at Bathers Beach awaiting the many locals and tourists who love to have their picture taken with her. Along with many others I am happy to see her back there in her green bikini by the sea. Happy Friday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. there is a picture captured of the man riding away on a BICYCLE with Bella in a cart behind him, at 150 kg that would have been no easy plunder!
