Covid-19 street art..

Found the fantastic Covid-19 street art here on the wall of super cool eatery Fields of Vincent while in Mount Lawley last week. Titled 'Prevails' it was a collaboration by UK and Australian artists Devilspencil and Scroller. Copies of the artwork available here. Will definitely keep my eyes open for more of their work and yes.. we will prevail! Hope you had/are still having an excellent weekend, take care and stay safe..

Enjoying the simple things..

I love reflections where the line between real and reflected are hard to define. Spotted the broken branch on one of our walks last week. Was so fed up with myself.. mesmerised by the sight of a family of ducks, mum, dad and twelve ducklings swimming through the reflection I forgot to click, when I came to my senses only one little straggler was left, life is full of missed opportunities :) Have a super weekend, take care and stay safe..

'Rather flat, a little bit of up and down'..

Not how I would describe the Burns Beach Coastal Walk! 7.4km of too many challenging ups and downs.. 'it's in the sand dunes after all'.. not my words :) It didn't help battling the gale force winds on the day we did this walk, the pram the ladies in the shot above are pushing was for the dog when it got tired, I've never been so envious 😉 All said and done though it is a beautiful coastal walk, the gorse bushes on either side alive with nesting blue wrens, didn't see one that day, they were sensibly staying indoors :) Two more walks to go! Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..

Through the kitchen window..

Every morning they patiently wait for signs of life from inside, the click of the kettle, the clink of a plate. The gentle chirping begins, getting a little louder the longer I take to open the French doors. They are delightful, Mr and Mrs I'm guessing.. oh dear, it has finally happened, not only am I the cat lady but now also the bird lady :) It was a tricky shot focusing through the glass and ferns outside the window, but you can see why, knowing it could happen any day, that I would miss these colourful breakfast guests 💕 Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

Take only photos, leave only footprints..

The Craigie Bushland trail may not be as pretty as the previous walk we did, few posts back, but in its own quintessentially Australian way it is lovely to walk this bushland trail. Classified as a 'major conservation area with high biodiversity values' the tree skeletons are home to many a bird and critter, I noticed also that some of the holes in the trees were occupied by bees..

The fence you see below surrounds the Quenda reserve. Protecting the Quenda, a sub species of the Southern brown bandicoot, from feral cats and foxes as it is a threatened species. One of the main reasons I wanted to do this walk was to climb the stairs, above middle left, preparing for a challenge later in the week :) they were closed! Hope you enjoyed this Aussie walk, happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

Same place different face..

Shortly after I posted the original mural below, by Perth mural and installation artist Daek William back in 2016 I read that it had been vandalised. Unfazed the artist said 'in the end it's just a bit of paint in an environment where it's open to be damaged. You've just got to toughen up a bit and get back there and fix it up'. Fix it up he has, I did smile though, in the first mural below it's all about dreaming, above, snapped when we were in Maylands last week it's more like 'just try it I've got my eyes on you'.. wish I'd moved the bins as I did before :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

So much nesting..

I'm back and as promised ready to share the many walks we have taken over the last two weeks. I hope you have been happy and well and that things are improving in whichever part of the world you are in. Spring is fast approaching here in Australia and the signs were never so clear as on the John George Walk Trail, definitely one of the prettiest and not too strenuous walks at roughly 7km. Almost every hole in every tree along the way was filled with nesting birds

Below checking out the real estate.. hold on I think we can do better..

...yup, this will do just fine:)

It's no good trying to hide.. you are too pink 💗

Beautiful spot to moor a boat and perhaps live on it too. After two weeks of early to bed and lots of fresh air and walking I was ready for a challenge.. show you that later in the week :) Looking forward to catching up on your posts over the next few days, happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

Time to re-boot..

I am very much missing the trip over to see our Sydney family this year, it's been nearly eight months since we saw our grandchildren. I usually take a two week break when we go over and have missed that break, feeling a bit jaded.. plus I have developed some bad habits lately 😉 Too many late nights, not enough sleep, not enough exercise, too much social media.. you get the picture :) I believe there are many walking trails around Perth that we haven't explored yet, I'm going to take some time to find them and will share with you when I return in two weeks. Like so many others my brain is on overload with all that is going on in the world right now.. apart from a re-boot I need a detox also :) Take care while I'm away, à bientôt 💙

Underwater dreaming..

Spotted this gorgeous mural on the wall of Benny's Yard in Fremantle last week. Painted back in December last year by Freo artist Art by Row. You can see a short video of the artist at work HERE and more of his work HERE. Incorporating all my favourite shades of blue I love it 💙 Hope you had/are still having a safe good weekend, happy Monday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. Underwater dreaming is my name for the mural, if you search 'underwater dreaming' it could easily apply to how many people are feeling in these difficult times..

All alone?

Absolutely not :) Below, ten brothers and sisters all together in a cotton-ball huddle. On a seven km walk yesterday, although it's still three weeks until official spring there were signs everywhere, the wildflowers beginning to appear along the way but sweetest of all were the family of shelducks, the day old babies adorable tiny puffballs 💚 watched over by protective parents..

There were eleven babies, I found myself counting them often to make sure they were all there, why is there always one who lags behind. Makes me a little nervous, so many predators out there that could swoop down for a tasty tiny morsel..

While the other ten hang out with mum above, the female has a white ring around the eye.. the breakaway is rounded up by dad below. Hope you don't mind the Sunday overload of cuteness.. they were too irresistible :) Yesterday was beautiful but winter returns with a vengeance today and tomorrow.. big storms predicted.. thunder, lightning the works.. snuggle time :) Happy Sunday, take care and stay safe..

Illuminated reflections..

Bit late with my post today.. internet problems! You might think I've been been playing with effects again, I do enjoy that now and again :) The illuminated reflections here however are caused entirely by the glass used in the building design, pretty cool right! Couldn't resist the shot below, even in the pouring rain the young man below couldn't help checking himself out :) Another shot from under my umbrella. Happy weekend, take care and stay safe,,
