Yesterday was such a gorgeous winter day, we drove to Fremantle to have lunch with Aimee as this is where she works now, that's a whole different story! Although the vibe in Freo city has really picked up since our last visit a month or so ago you can see here the harbour is still quiet. Below three container ships to the left but to the right not a single ship in dock, good to see. It's going to be a while before we see any cruise ships docked here.. if ever!
Below my favourite building on my favourite street.. Phillimore Street. Anyone who loves heritage buildings as I do would love Freo, so much superb architecture. In fact there are so many heritage listed buildings in Fremantle that it has been recognised as 'the best preserved example of a 19th century port streetscape in the world' you can read about it HERE..
On the corner of High and Henry St. sits the Orient Hotel. now Bar Orient. You might have to embiggen to see the 'it's good to be a little different' on the colourful umbrellas :) Few more shots of this trip tomorrow, happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..
I’d love a wander down that street.
ReplyDelete...you sure have some beautiful heritage buildings!
ReplyDeleteThat was a nice stroll down the street, Grace!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful water and sky. Those neat old buildings are amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe heritage buidlings are absolutely beautiful to see.
ReplyDeleteThe bollard on the quay looks like a hand holding a rod. Very appropriate here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good trip you had. The Orient Bar looks like a fun place especially if they can provide private rooms. Lovely series of photos.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful old buildings - and isn't it lovely to see quiet roads and ports. I don't care if cruise ships never come back! I wouldn't go on one if you paid me!
ReplyDeleteLovely to see those buildings.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
It is very impressive and it's a pleasant train trip for tourists who wish to visit.
ReplyDeleteDearest Grace,
ReplyDeleteThat is indeed exceptional that Fremantle preserved that many 19th century buildings! Bravo to all that made it happen.
You captured some beautiful photos on a crisp winter day.
Hugs,
Mariette
If ever Indeed! Waikiki and Hawaii ponder their future. Love the vintage buildings. Can't help feeling hopeful. Us elections are coming!
ReplyDeleteAmazing pics
ReplyDelete🦁 wants to come over, Grace!
ReplyDeleteAnd me, also! Wow, another dangerous place, food-wise, share and enjoy LOADS :-) Forget about ⏰ at "that" Sailor! 💙
Like that sunlight shimmering on the water
ReplyDeleteThose balcony styles reminds me a bit of New Orleans in the US. Very nice looking buildings. Yes our world has suddenly changed so much everything is different, no tourists for example...
ReplyDeleteSo pretty
ReplyDeletereally cool reportage,i lke a lot the rusty bollard too!ew :)
ReplyDeleteI love these photos. What a great looking street to photograph and enjoy. The architecture is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWish I could join you on a walk around there, it looks a lovely place. Our temperatures this week are mostly around 38C. I don't mind it as the house is always cool but the garden is struggling. Cheers Diane
ReplyDeleteQuite a place to explore.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely. Would be nice to be there but we are locked out.
