Shortly after I posted the original mural below, by Perth mural and installation artist Daek William back in 2016 I read that it had been vandalised. Unfazed the artist said 'in the end it's just a bit of paint in an environment where it's open to be damaged. You've just got to toughen up a bit and get back there and fix it up'. Fix it up he has, I did smile though, in the first mural below it's all about dreaming, above, snapped when we were in Maylands last week it's more like 'just try it I've got my eyes on you'.. wish I'd moved the bins as I did before :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..
...sad that it was vandalized, nice that it was restored.
ReplyDeleteThay are both excellent, but a sad story. Sorry I am not visiting so often but our WiFi is slower than slow at present and to visit your blogs it is taking me anything between 15 and 30 mins to download each blog, It is pathetic and very frustrating. We are between 0.1 and 0.3. Normal is slow at 0.5 but we cannot even get that at present!
ReplyDeleteKeep safe Diane
I love them both. It's sad that someone feels like they have to deface a piece of art. What a great attitude the artist has though.
ReplyDeleteHis comment makes his work sound effortless. It was a great job, both times.
ReplyDeleteI hope it stays safe this time, Grace! The eyes may deter the vandals!
ReplyDeleteA good restoration.
ReplyDeleteDearest Grace,
ReplyDeleteSad that it got vandalized but love the repair and Daek William sure looked the would be vandal straight in the eyes!
Hugs,
Mariette
Just like America. Vandalized, but people stepping up 😉
ReplyDeleteThey're both beautiful, but I especially like the one where she's dreaming, seeing I'm fascinated by dreams. It's truly a shame that that one was vandalized.
ReplyDeleteQuite a clever alteration isn't it. I like the second version best.
ReplyDeleteLove it. The color is even more intense.
ReplyDeleteAmazing murals
ReplyDeleteTwo different murals on the same theme. Too bad it was vandalized, but the recreation was stronger than ever.
ReplyDeletethe work is absolutely amazing, your pictures too! ew :)
ReplyDeleteThankfully the second is even more beautiful, but, bummer.
ReplyDeleteGrace, I will never understand how others can get at such work and destroy it. Is that plain jealousy?
Hope this one stays intact for a loooong time.
Respect we need.
Nice that the artist recreated his vandalised mural. Hope it stay that way.
ReplyDeleteThat is so stupid, people who have no respect for artworks and feel the need to destroy them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great attitude the artist had and glad he re-painted something a little bit different. Thanks for contributing Grace.
ReplyDeleteFantástico estes murais.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.

Wonderful that the artist was able to salvage at least a part of the original work.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see the rebooted you back...Janey
I like the way it's keeping eyes on everyone to make sure no one damages in again. Good one.
ReplyDeleteA great mural it is.
ReplyDeleteAwful to vandalise, pleased that it was restored.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Sorry I'm late visiting, Grace. I love the artist's attitude and that he was able to repair it and make something a bit different where it had been vandalized. It's a glorious new entry, even with the trash cans in front of it.
ReplyDeleteSimilar, and yet so different...
ReplyDeleteAn interesting change.
