The Craigie Bushland trail may not be as pretty as the previous walk we did, few posts back, but in its own quintessentially Australian way it is lovely to walk this bushland trail. Classified as a 'major conservation area with high biodiversity values' the tree skeletons are home to many a bird and critter, I noticed also that some of the holes in the trees were occupied by bees..
The fence you see below surrounds the Quenda reserve. Protecting the Quenda, a sub species of the Southern brown bandicoot, from feral cats and foxes as it is a threatened species. One of the main reasons I wanted to do this walk was to climb the stairs, above middle left, preparing for a challenge later in the week :) they were closed! Hope you enjoyed this Aussie walk, happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..
...sometimes nature needs a helping hand!
ReplyDeleteThose stairs do look like a challenge. Interesting walk. Did you see any bandicoots?
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful area for a relaxing walk. Quite a lot of stairs...
ReplyDeleteI would love a walk in that bushland, Grace. Thank you for sharing it across the kilometers.
ReplyDeleteA great place to walk and explore. That's a lot of stairs and would be good exercise for the legs.
ReplyDeleteToo bad the stairs were closed - there look to be a lot of them, Grace! It was a great place for a hike.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful place to visit. So, Australia has a cat problem like here in the States.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love the way you framed that beautiful first photograph with that old tree and I love to see the forest growing wild and seems to be untouched but there is a beautiful pathway to walk safely on :)
ReplyDeleteLovely to see your photographs, it looks a beautiful place to visit.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDearest Grace,
ReplyDeleteAha, the brown bandicoot is thus a marsupial, like our Opossum!
Great for protecting it.
Yes, hollow trees and such do provide shelter for so many critters.
So happy to see the Wattle tree blooming! Spring is near. We tried to grow one here, purchased one at a specialty nursery but it died...
Hugs,
Mariette
Another interesting walk and good to see the wattle in bloom.
ReplyDeleteGrace, LOL. There is a The Simpsons-episode on bees.
ReplyDeleteCan´t help it! đ€Ł
Beautiful area, huhhh, but those stairs...
Great walk. Beautiful nature. Thanks to let us enjoy this wonderful environment.
ReplyDeleteYour nature looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteNice pictures.
So special to see the wonderful birds which fly in that nature area.
Warm regards,
Marco
