The astoundingly huge endeavour here at Elizabeth Quay was painted by Perth mural and sculpture artist Melski McVee with a lot of help from the community during the October school holidays this year.. click here to watch a short video of the artist and helpers at work, looks like so much fun (let me know if link works). You can't see it clearly here but each animal bird and plant has it's name alongside it, such a good idea for overseas visitors who are unfamiliar with Australia's flora and fauna. I'm guessing that at some point the hoarding here will come down, wonder if the panels will be saveable. Hope you had/are still having a super weekend, take care and stay safe..
Wow. What a great way to involve the community! Great job too. So Perthian!

ReplyDeleteIsn't it such a good idea to paint murals on large hoardings, that are often standing for years. The colours are so vivid and it is useful to have the animals and plants named.
