Couldn't resist a reflection shot of Farrah Fawcett (1947-2009) at the Rise of Sneaker Culture exhibition. Farrah Fawcett was the 'it' girl of the 70's, who doesn't remember the 'red swimsuit poster'. Asked why he thought the poster was the best selling poster of all time the photographer said "C'mon, who could resist the beautiful, all-American girl looking directly at you with a dazzling
smile and a red suit that covered a lot but revealed a little.” Young women in the spotlight these days would do well to take some FF tips, cover up, leave something to the imagination! Gosh that made me sound so old :) Happy Saturday, take care and stay safe..
The red swimsuit poster adorned many a teen male's room back in the day.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm not mistaken, that poster was found in my nephew's room when he was a teenager. She really was a beautiful young woman.
ReplyDeleteShe certainly was an icon. And gone relatively young!
ReplyDeleteFarrah Fawcett was one of my favorite actresses for awhile, many years ago. But her life ended rather tragically. I felt so sorry for her when she made an appearance on Letterman's show obviously high or drunk and made a fool of herself. I think basically she was a nice person but it's really difficult to handle the money and notoriety of stardom.
ReplyDelete...two for the price of one.
ReplyDeleteHer hair was copied by many but never duplicated. Gone too soon! Great post, PDP.
ReplyDeleteVery popular woman in the 70s. Never cared for charlie's angels but that helped, along with the poster, to make her an icon. It was sad she died young.
ReplyDeleteOh, my! Farah Fawcett. Gosh! :-)
ReplyDeleteGroovy!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Don't give so much away. Tease and titillate and let imaginations work......hard.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I used to love her hair!
ReplyDeleteHappy Typewriter and Ham Radio Weekend! At least it is typewriters and ham radio here in the States. World Typewriter Day 23 June!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty!
ReplyDeleteSo 70s.
ReplyDeleteI remember her from Charlie´s Angels. So cool then.
ReplyDeleteWow she even had a twin sister. Never known. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember seeing Charlie´s Angels on Swedish TV back in the 1970s but I did enjoy The Cannonball Run movie. She really was an American icon.
ReplyDeleteNice memories Grace! I loved that hair!
ReplyDeleteIt looks as she was jumping through the store - great reflection!
ReplyDeleteFarrah Fawcett, beautiful but tragic. Wonderful hair and a lovely face. Fame is hard to manage and stay sane.Luckily I won't ever have that problem!
ReplyDeleteI still remember her in Charlie's Angels. She was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo Grace.
Awesome shot, Grace! Oh, the 70s... :-)
ReplyDeleteI know several of Farrah's relatives in Houston. I have enjoyed the sneaker exhibits.
ReplyDeleteI remember the poster--but the hair even more. I used to spend at least an hour every morning making my baby fine, stick straight hair look lime that...until Collin was born and I no longer had the time!
ReplyDeleteI do remember that poster!
ReplyDeleteNice reflection photo. I had to do a double take to figure it out.
Gosh, I remember her ... and her hair!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I remember....
ReplyDeleteNice posting in so many ways :-)
She was so gorgeous - I loved her as a little girl in the 70s, dreamed of having hair like her :-) Great shot, Grace!
ReplyDeleteI remember the poster for sure. Great reflection!
