A paler shade of grey..

Yesterday the city was enveloped in a smoky haze as a result of a prescribed burn-off in Beelu National Park east of Perth in the Helena Valley. By the time I took these shots at 2pm in the afternoon the haze had cleared to a gentle grey but if you check the link here you will see what it was like first thing in the morning. As with all controlled winter burn-offs a warning went out to those with breathing related problems to keep windows shut and air-conditioners off. If you are concerned about the wildlife, a lot of planning by Parks and Wildlife goes into the organizing of a prescribed burn-off. I may have a few more pics from Kings Park tomorrow :) Happy Friday, take care and stay safe...

  3. ...a prescribed burn-off would be foreign here.

  4. They do these burns in Florida, too. Unfortunately, Mother Nature sends lightning which often starts burns on their own. We have several huge fires in our state forests at the moment and sometimes the air is filled with smoke.

  5. So you do controlled burn-offs down there too? It happens here too and sometimes the air gets so smokey it's hard for anyone to breathe. We haven't had one like that in a long time but I do remember it happening. Still, it's better than uncontrolled fires.

  6. They do them here sometimes to encourage new growth of desired species.

  7. A great hazy view.
Of course it would be better if those awful buildings on the left were knocked down...

  14. Since 2015 it´s forbitten to burn your garden-stuff altogether over here. You are to shred it and let it rot. I´m glad we don´t have a garden!
    But great pics, Grace!

  15. Oh that is bad, they do that. It is awful to have so much smoke, it is very unhealthy.
