I think two of the things I find the hardest about the strict conditions we find ourselves in at the moment are firstly not being able to catch up easily with family and friends and also not being able to pop out for breakfast/brunch. On the positive side, there always is one :) we will save money on the meals out and we can still catch up via phone and Skype. Yesterday we spent the day in the garden taking out the bougainvillea that had taken over the back fence, it fought all the way with it's vicious thorns and sturdy branches, but determination prevailed, as soon as the weather cools down a hibiscus will take it's place. The corellas, still lucky enough to eat out kept their extraordinary eyes on me as they did so. I hope you had/are still having a safe weekend, happy Monday, take care..
The bird reminds me of Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca, "here's looking at you, kid"
ReplyDelete...I don't see my family much, but I talk to them on the phone daily.
ReplyDeleteGreat up in your face photos!
ReplyDeleteHandsome devils, aren't they? My brother's very pleased that he's lost some weight since unable to go out for pub lunches! I haven't spotted the bonuses of this situation yet, but I'll keep looking.
ReplyDeleteLucky that you still have these fabulous guests on table.
ReplyDeleteLOVE those closeups! Very handsome birds. I miss seeing my family especially the grandies, but it's not forever!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you were well supervised doing your work, Grace! We are all safe here - it is crazy going to grocery stores with all of the precautions but it is for the best. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos well done. How I wish we could grow bougainvilleas here!! Take care Diane
ReplyDeleteYou really do have the most colorful visitors to your garden of anyone I know. I've done the bougainvillea trimming before so I know how hard that can be. I usually end up with scratches all over my arms.
ReplyDeleteNot only are those birds beautiful, but they sure show character as well. Truly beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteI truly hope you and all your loved one's will stay clear from that virus!
I followed both of your lovely blogs, and would like to invite you to follow mine as well, if you'd like.
It looks like leather around the eyes. Wonder what sights they’ve seen?
ReplyDeleteNot on your web page but in my rss feed, the first photo gave me a fright when I opened it as it was so large and close. I am surprised the bougainvillea didn't get either of you at least once. Same here, greatly missing brunch out.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous birds!
ReplyDeleteGood you could work outside. That helps make life seem normal. Beautiful close up photos of these trusting birds. They knew they were in a safe place.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots. Glad you are keeping busy in the harden. Yes I miss going out for lunch with friends. Our family live in other states so it hasn't changed. Use FaceTime more often because they are home from work. We have been isolating ourselves 3 weeks now due to our age and Bill's heart disease. But we are okay with that. You asked about walking in the forest. Yes we can still do that but I do it solo now instead of with my friends.
ReplyDeleteLike WoW - Totally Up Close And Personal - I Wonder If They Are Mates Or Just Mates
ReplyDeleteCheers
What a majestic looking bird! Glad you are doing well Grace! Pleas ebe careful with the bougainvilleas, I always get thorned up whenever I trim ours as well. Now all the flowers are vining through the roof It's so beautiful! Stay Safe!

ReplyDeleteGrace :-) Yes, always see the positive!
ReplyDeleteI stopped liking the beer in our fav pub - guess how much money we saved since!!! No more Currywurst/fries, either, hence.
Beautiful bird. I learned the beaks are warm.
Great close ups Grace.
ReplyDeleteWe have 2 bougainvilleas in our front garden that keep on getting cut down and somehow always strike back!
I also miss the social part of life.
Great captured. Beautiful birds.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Wow, great close ups of these wonderful birds, Grace !
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, but also during this time more folks are out and about and you have a chance to chit-chat-safely-six feet apart but you meet folks and kiddos and dogs that you otherwise might never have met. But we can't go crazy and pet the dogs that we meet like we did before. That's kind of sad.
