In town on Wednesday I was really keen to see how the new WA Museum is progressing. Above looking corner on to incorporate the new building to the left and the old to the right. Below the new WA museum c2020, have a peek inside here, looks amazing! Opening in November this year. I was happy to get at least three people in the shot to give size perspective :)
Below incorporated into the new design is the Jubilee Building c1899 and Hackett Hall c1913. Both seen here and again here and also here, do you remember that visit, I enjoyed it so much and am hoping there will still be some of that magical bygone era charm. Happy Friday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. when you look at the shot below it's a bit like the future bursting through into the 20th century past :)
That Jubilee Building is such a treasure Grace! Oh I really really really wanna go to Perth now! That will be my goal when we find a solution to the virus. I would have been to three countries for a week this last week of May and is something I look forward to because I'll travel with my Dad and also two new countries for me to have seen. but of course, cancelled :(
ReplyDeleteHave a great Friday dear Grace!
Great work. I like the way all of the old is saved.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice solution to combine old with new. The engineer who made the building plan knew what he was doing!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice friday, Grace! 🤗
It looks fabulous especially seen in the second photo.
ReplyDelete...thanks for show the last three pictures, I first one had me worried!
ReplyDeleteYour fall colors look fine. Hope the Museum opening is not set back by the pandemic. Interesting how the new building overwhelms the old. Thank you for all your recent comments on my blog. Always look forward to hearing from you.
ReplyDeleteI like the old and I like the new, just not sure about the way they fit together. I've noticed quite a few museums and galleries are putting videos on YouTube at the moment, allowing a small virtual tour.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they will be able to open on time! It is such a difficult thing to add new to the old especially when the old is as wonderful like these two buildings are.
ReplyDeleteOh I so enjoy that marriage of old and new! I love visiting Oz every day with you, G
ReplyDeleteFascinating new addition to the neighbourhood!
ReplyDeleteAt least the new doesn't dwarf the old.
ReplyDeleteThe did an incredible job blending the new with the old. I remember when you took us inside. I sure hope some of the old-world charm remains on the older half of the building. The inside of the place was pretty spectacular.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite amazing. If we can get there some day...
ReplyDeleteI hope sometime you get chance to show all of us the WA museum
ReplyDeleteIts clever how they have married the old and the new. Perth is an exciting city.
ReplyDeleteGive me the old buildings any day 😊 Keep safe, Diane
ReplyDeleteI like the second photo best. From the outside the architect of the new building didn't try to adapt the new building to the old one but just encapsulates it. Wonder what it looks like on the inside.
ReplyDeleteAlways a bit difficult to see a modern addition to an old building...
ReplyDeleteQuite a contrast between the two.
ReplyDeleteI think it's looking good Grace, I haven't been to the city since December...
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.
Awesome pics.
ReplyDeleteSuch a contrast, and nice to see the old building incorporated into the new!
ReplyDeleteI love the old brick buildings.
