Yesterday while on a walk around Kuljak Island, also known as Black Swan Island, we spotted the female Australasian Darter below out of the water looking agitated. On a rock by the side of the lake the youngster above was in a spot of trouble. If you look closely you will see that it has a piece of fishing wire tightly wrapped around it's beak. What to do! P took a picture with his phone and sent it immediately to alert Wildlife Protection who when we spoke to them assured us they would send someone.. I hope they did. If only fishermen would be more careful with their discarded fishing gear.. sadly the human factor often lets the side down! The rest of the walk was a little less stressful :) show you tomorrow.
