Nearly all of the shots I took yesterday were from under my umbrella, it was a beautiful day :) In Midland to take pics of this wonderful mural by Dutch artists Telmo and Miel. The two storey high mural titled 'Life of a Story' shows 'a young boy leaning over his grandfather, with whom he shares a special bond, while he reads him a story'. The artwork depicting 'the importance of storytelling as a way of passing down history and knowledge.' There is a huge amount of history attached to this area, will tell you more about that tomorrow. Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..
...a wonderful mural and I like the wide shots that puts it in contacts.
ReplyDeleteIt's a winner, Grace!
ReplyDeleteThat is a big mural and a very touching image. When I was little, I was fascinated by my grandfather's book collection. I would spend hours thumbing through his books and asking him about the different stories. I have a few of his books on my shelf right now and every now and then I read one. The stories might be dated but they are always interesting.

ReplyDeleteSuperb art in perhaps a slightly less than beautiful neighbourhood.
ReplyDeleteStory-telling. So important. Love that you shut from under your umbrella.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful mural, Grace.
ReplyDeleteGreat one and very nice thought out.
ReplyDeleteGreat mural. I cycled 10 km in a very heavy rainfall yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThat is a tender mural. You must have enjoyed the rain.
ReplyDeleteDearest Grace,
ReplyDeleteThat is quite some mural by the duo!
Did check out some of their websites and they deliver great work.
Miel Krutzmann has a German sounding surname.
Love the Grandpa with his grandson, storytelling to the third generation.
Yes, that is how culture and memories ought to be passed down!
Hugs,
Mariette
Well done.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice, isn't it. I am sure you read to your grands when you see them. Holding an umbrella while taking a photo is not easy. Thanks P, I expect.
ReplyDeleteA very wonderful mural!
ReplyDeleteNow I can see that's winter there … all this fog!
Enjoy your day! 🤗
Great mural, Grace. I remember my Dad reading Wilhelm Busch to me and ages later I see the book on my Brother´s table with the Big Niece smiling.
ReplyDeleteIngo still can recite Busch´s stories (which is a tad crazy).
Busch wrote in poem-style and Ingo has every word (of some).
Dad would love that mural.
Those clouds do look threatening Grace. Good on you for getting out there with your camera anyway. Great mural.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great one you have found there!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mural Grace, what a great find!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beauty. Love it.
ReplyDeleteIt seems all the dutch mural painters have gone to Australia! Can imagine it because of the weather! But we don't see any murals here sadly......
ReplyDeleteI do appreciate history very much, thank you! My day off to day is much like this, bring your umbrella and not much for picture taking. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteYou have some fabulous artists in your area. Stay safe, cheers Diane
ReplyDeleteWow, Grace, that is a HUGE mural. It certainly tugs at your heartstrings. So glad you shared it.
ReplyDeleteLovely mural, nice topic.
