Desert River Sea..

In the city earlier in the week to visit Art Gallery WA. There were two new exhibitions I especially wanted to see, the first being Desert River Sea. An installation 'celebrating the conclusion of a six year arts research and development project between Art Gallery WA and Aboriginal artists and art centres in the Kimberley'. The video enacts a 'Wirnan' ceremony.. 'the coming together of four tribes, symbolised by the quadrants of coloured stone. Here families and community gather around a fire to share stories and pass on cultural knowledge'. The wall of artifacts features 'objects traditionally given as gifts of exchange'. A fascinating and slightly mesmerizing event. There is much more to this exhibition, will show more tomorrow. Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..
