Don't you love it when you come across something in your city that you haven't seen before. Coming onto St Georges Terrace just down from the Barracks Arch there it was chained to a signpost. An everyday sight for European readers and perhaps even for some Perthites, but it was a first for moi! The Dutch Cargo Bike Co has had a test centre for their e bikes in Claremont since 2016, who knew! I do believe this is the Bakfiets cargo bike.. have a look, it is so adaptable, with safety belts and all. I would have paid money to see a group of Bakfietsen traveling down the terrace :) Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..
Occasionally I see one like that here. It's neat!
ReplyDelete...not something that I'd see here!
ReplyDeleteHow cute. I saw similar ones in Amsterdam with pets being transported in the cargo compartment.
ReplyDeleteME WANT!
ReplyDeleteFunny enough, Grace, just yesterday we saw a docu on uber-bikes and they tested such one. Not easy to drive, it seems even though (or because) it was empty.
ReplyDeleteCargo bikes are increasing in number these days. I know a fellow in Ames, Iowa who builds them and uses them to run a moving company. He does not own a truck, but can move a household across town with great efficiency.
ReplyDeleteThere are quite a few of them here and they seem to be a great way for transporting kids or just groceries!
ReplyDeleteA small touch of Holland in Oz. Don't see many cargo bikes here in the States, even in Holland, Michigan.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen one quite like that. glad you saw it and also shared it with us all, interesting. Keep well Diane
ReplyDeleteIndeed a dutchy. Lot of mothers use them to bring the kids to school. And there are now a lot of different shapes and makes for everyone
ReplyDeleteMy friend Highie sells those in Cambridge, very popular with young mums.
ReplyDeleteHaven’t seen one like it before PDP.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen or heard of them. They look like they would be an interesting ride.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen anything like this before. I like it very much. I could have so many uses.

ReplyDeleteLooks very interesting and if it's been used a lot in Europe it must work well.
ReplyDeleteNot seen anything like this before, so thanks for sharing the pictures.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
The Boy Dog Would Love It If I Owned One Of These. Also, Brilliant Shots From The Vertical Gardens.. Natural Tapestries.. Post
ReplyDeleteSo Well Done
Cheers
Cool!!! I think it would be very cool to live somewhere where something like this would not just be practical, but accepted as a mode of transportation...Some how, I don't think that would go over very big in Los Angeles! (Too many people and cars...it wouldn't be practical and the authorities would probably frown on it...)
ReplyDeleteThat's so practical! I wonder why we don't see anything like this in the U.S.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteIt's really nice for transportation. Have a great weekend!

That is a familiar look here, great to see it has gone over the world.
ReplyDeleteThat's great Grace. It's also something new for me too.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy seeing life on your city streets, and what a money saver that bicycle is! No gasoline!
ReplyDeleteI could use one of those!
ReplyDeleteNeat, I have never seen anything like it that I can recall.
