I was expecting a stroll through the bush similar to the walk around Lake Leschenaultia here. Obviously P and Aimee thought I was ready for tougher stuff :) You may have to embiggen the pics here to appreciate the early morning misty views. Below way down there in the middle of the shot you will see the wooden bridge that crosses the Swan River, we crossed that bridge and walked way around the bend of the river you see above. The Bells Rapids walk is slightly shorter but by golly much tougher, will show you some shots from down there on Tuesday..
Here's where being height challenged can be tricky, even standing on tip toes my 5ft 2in didn't cut it with the map below. If you can line up the map to the background, starting with the river is the easiest way, you will get some idea of the area. The Perth-Kalgoorlie train line runs through the park, if you pull in the shot directly under the map you will see the train coming around the bend way to the right, the length of it snaking all the way through to the other end of the shot. Incredibly long goods trains. I could have been at home having breakfast in bed but breakfast after a hike somehow tastes so much better :) Hope you had a brilliant Mother's Day, happy Monday, take care and stay safe..
Does not look an easy walk but hope that you enjoyed it. It looks very pretty through the mist though. Keep well Diane. P.S. has the cough gone now?
ReplyDelete...this sure doesn't look like a stroll.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like some excellent walking country. Breakfast would taste good after that.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful Mother's Day journey! I could not do such a hike anymore, but it looks like great fun and I'm surprised that you have this kind of country nearby. I guess I thought you were on relatively flat land. Shows how much I don't know! Kudos to you and Happy Mother's Day too!
ReplyDeleteUma bela paisagem de montanha.

ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a very strenuous walk. The train is certainly very long. Good to see things being moved by rail. I like the misty atmosphere.
