It's been a while since I posted a sculpture so when I came across this quirky fellow eating his sandwich on a bench in Midland yesterday I was intrigued to know more. Midland has a long WA Government Railways history and is home to the Midland Railway Workshops. 'In early 2000, Kath Wheatley was commissioned to create a series of
quirky long-legged sculptures which paid tribute to the strong
connection between the workers, family and friends of the Midland
Railway Workshop'. Next time we are in Midland I will look out for his fellow railway workers seen HERE. Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..
Looks as though he needs that sandwich; his belly's completely empty!
ReplyDeleteDearest Grace,
ReplyDeleteQuirky fellow yes, but he/it looks like a most pitiful vegetarian...
Hugs,
Mariette
...this sculpture is fabulous and you can sit beside him and have a conversation.

Looks like he spotted you just as he was going to take a bite.
ReplyDeleteLooks like he didn't want to share his sandwich with you.
ReplyDeleteI like the whimsy of this, Grace!
ReplyDeleteI love this, I really need to get into Angouleme to see what new art there might be, but it is not going happen soon methinks! Take care Diane
ReplyDeleteHello Grace,
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny figure. Very nice to eat your lunch with him.
Nice pictures!!
Greetings, Marco
I’d love to have a picnic with this fellow.

ReplyDeleteI'd join him on the bench for a sandwich.
ReplyDeleteFun sculpture that makes us reflect on our own time to eat lunch on a park bench.
ReplyDeleteIt made me smile. It bet it makes others smile too.
ReplyDeleteCool guy. I´ll have a pizza muffin for brekkie now, Grace :-)
ReplyDeleteOr maybe an ole slice of bread as Ingo is on holiday and doesn´t want it.
And someone has to eat it.
Me again. Sometimes I´m the "rubbish-bin". Kidding. Will be OK. And I join your long-legged guy 😉
Muito original esta escultura.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.
