Sassellas is a pretty prime spot to enjoy a drink overlooking Murray Street (super photo c1949 on link) and the town square Forrest Place. Above, the old Commonwealth Bank building on the corner and the General Post Office, when we arrived in Perth all those years ago it was still used as a post office and was faaabulous! If you pull the shot in a bit closer you can see the once controversial 'Grow Your Own' sculpture peeking above the trees. Below the view to the right from Sassellas balcony, you can just see the spires of St. Mary's Cathedral centre of shot. I rather like this view :)
We all seem to wait for the right moment to take 'the' shot without people distracting from whatever the subject is, I'm tres guilty of this.. below two street scenes to show that I'm not alone in Perth :) there are others out there working, eating, shopping and living.. although the little fellow fast asleep in the pram below has had enough, he's over it! Happy Friday, take care and stay safe...
You don't usually see strollers tipped over like that!
ReplyDeleteTerrific views!
Gotta love those old buildings. It's amazing how children can sleep when so much is happening around them. Happy Friday Grace!
ReplyDeleteNice photos Grace. The former Post office building still is a grand building. Never been to Sassellas.
ReplyDelete...a wonderful mix of old and new.
ReplyDeleteI like your street photography. There is lots going on in your pictures. People are a positive addition to these scenes.
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice pedestrian area, Grace!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous city you show us!
ReplyDeleteWonderful old building with lots of character. A city full of people doing their stuff. Excellent images, Grace!
ReplyDeleteThe girl in foreground looks so happy and vivacious. She appears to be addressing the lad who seems to be on his phone and is taking no notice of her. Everyone in this photo has their own story.
ReplyDeleteSuper old building, spoilt by all those people!
ReplyDeleteCan they not clear the streets while you photograph?
That's one tired kid.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your daily thoughts and photos, Grace, thankyou.
ReplyDeleteHowever, Sassellas overlooks Murray Street mall in Perth. It is a good venue for a drink and a sticky beak at the world going by, isn't it.
Judith
Thanks Judith you are so right, can you believe after all this time I still get Murray and Hay mixed up ☺
DeleteWhat a wide side walks.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
Nice post. Awesome pics.
ReplyDeleteA nice pedestrian zone, it would be very pleasant to shop there. I'd stay in the shady part too! :)
ReplyDeletePost office building is a classic.
ReplyDeleteGosto destas fotografias urbanas.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom fim-de-semana.

Nice street views Grace, looks so summery without coats and hats!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, Grace. Haha, I unvoluntarily photobombed one today.
ReplyDeleteA man stood in the way, through the dirt or right in front of his lense it was and he took forever! Just as I passed I heard a "click" - sorry, dude, don't stand in the way, huh?
Lovely shots here Grace, especially cute the little one asleep in his stroller ... just adds to it I think!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I think I'd like this spot very much. That view is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAnother paean to Perth! What a great city you have. And thanks for sharing these superb photos!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! I could spend some time there. Love the old buildings also.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely place.
ReplyDeleteComme las Ramblas à Barcelone !
