CDP Theme Day.. Ageing.
For as long as I can remember I have always loved old photographs, black & white and sepia preferably. A moment in time captured when people and places never age, remaining as they were when young and new. I particularly love images from 1920 - 1950. Did you know that the first 'selfie' was taken in 1839 and the word selfie was officially entered into the Oxford Dictionary in 2013, I find that a little disconcerting :) The lady in the photograph above is my Mum.. she remained in my eyes, and everyone who knew her, as beautiful until the day she passed away. True beauty, inside and out, never ages. Happy Sunday, take care and stay safe..

Women like Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, and your mum, are a preoccupation of mine as I try to age the best way.....

ReplyDeleteVery nice Grace.

That's the great thing about photos... one doesn't age. A terrific remembrance, Grace.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo to share. I agree about selflies. ((sigh)) I've always taken selfies -- by setting a timer on the camera and dashing like a crazy person into position and then hoping the pic turns out as planned. Interestingly, as smart phone selfies have increased, I've stopped taking self-timed pics. Have a good weekend!

I thought that might have been your mother, Grace. It is a wonderful portrait to have, and hand down to your children.
ReplyDeleteI was talking to my grand-daughter in my parlour this afternoon when she asked me to tell her about the paintings that I have on the wall, nodding to one in particular. I had to tell her that it was not actually a painting, but a hessian sack that MY grandfather used to take to the markets with him when he went by horse and sulky to buy pellets for his chooks. Then I had to explain that being MY grandfather meant that he was her great-great-grandfather. This was more than Alannah could process ...
Thank you for contributing the aged photograph of your mother to our Theme Day.
