Little girls and mermaids go together like cookies & cream, like Rogers & Astaire, like French & chic.. I could go on but I think you can see the fascination above and below. Above mermaid Jessica Pearl and below mermaids Kate Silverfish and Amelia surrounded by adoring little girls and the occasional little chap :)
Frolicking playfully as they swam back out into deeper water the mermaids put on a bit of a show for their fans on the boardwalk..
The legend of the mermaid has been around forever, some say the sight of a mermaid out at sea is a forewarning of danger some say they are benevolent creatures.. I say a big thank you to our Perth mermaids, they only bring happiness and joy whenever they appear on our beaches.. Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe.....
hee hee...
ReplyDeleteThere's something fishy about these photos... :-)
«Louis'» "Gearhead Tuesday" post today is about the cars of Australia featuring the 80th Anniversary of the "Ute".
This little girl would love to see them too! ;-))
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I am sure these scales and flippers come in bright red, too!
ReplyDeleteOh they do exist then, I love the colors of them. Shame we don't have any here
ReplyDeleteso wonderful pictures.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see the joy of the kids! A day they'll never forget!
ReplyDeleteOh, I do agree with Malyss!! Wonderful to see the joy and most definitely a day they'll never forget! Your captures are terrific as always!! Thanks for sharing the beauty and the fun!!
ReplyDeleteHow about that, looks like fun. Those girls are probably really in shape to swim in that suit like that.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't mind trying that! When I was younger, much, much younger, I used to butterfly swim so perhaps I would actually avoid drowning...
ReplyDeleteI wished little Niece´d be old enough to understand and to admire and be in awe, Grace!
ReplyDeleteAre they there every year? I´ll sure keep an eye on Mermaid Amelia on FB :-)
Such a very cute, clever, great idea, oui!
The kids seem to be having a ball! Wonderful shots of the ladies, Grace!
ReplyDeleteSure looks like everyone is having a ball.
ReplyDeleteHow fun!!! I always wanted to be a mermaid!!! (that was my nickname in college...my maiden name is Murman!!!)
ReplyDeleteFriendly, frolicking mermaids - what a great thing to see!
ReplyDelete(and yes, we do still have that much snow, especially farther from the city centre)
What sweet mermaids! I love the children so fascinated and happy to see these sea creatures (and I'm fascinated how mermaid legends came about...)
ReplyDeleteYou must have heard some happy kids having a great time.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. The emotional effect may be created by Disney. The kids have all seen the movie. I really like the last few pix with the in/out of the water light bending.
ReplyDeleteFantastic!! There seem to be some 'big boys' around as well. Sorry to hear your W/E was not so good, hope all is well now.
ReplyDeleteWish I were there, Grace!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adventure for those kids. They will remember it for a very long time.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great time was had by all Grace. So colourful and vibrant.
ReplyDeleteDelightful creatures: mermaids, little girls, and the occasional little chap!

Cela devait être une merveilleux spectacle, les jeunes enfants ont du être ravis !
ReplyDeleteThis should be a wonderful show, young children had to be delighted!
Have a nice day! Cath
Thanks. I needed that.
ReplyDeleteMy childhood fantasies included meeting a mermaid. I think I must plan a trip to Perth to fulfill my fantasy !
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Grace, wonderful for kids and adults alike I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet to see how the children enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteAren't they just wonderful. What I like to see is the young girls just being children and mesmerised by them.
ReplyDeleteI want some mermaids here for our next summer!
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to see a mermaid somewhere, but in reality it never happened ;(
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these beautiful photos, Grace!
That must have been fun for the kids.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! How I love that legend as a child and how I would have loved these photos!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a good idea! I was going to say that I wish they did that here, but our water is so cold, that the mermaids would have to wear wetsuits.
ReplyDeleteWater woman and a water child
Living underwater is something wild
Fishes swimming through my hair
Mermaids singing away my care.
they would be something else to see. unfortunately , when we went the crowd was over whelming. i put the blame at the parents feet, the parents that wouldnt move to let other kids see them, the parents that wouldnt monitor their own kids , so that other could see them. it was a shame. we never got to see them that day. i did get a drawing from one of the mermaids for donating via then net towards their new tails. i hope the parents that hogged what should have been a bit of magic for everyone, donated too.
