Welcome Swallows.....

I was both delighted and fed up when we were walking along the sea wall behind Aqwa (Aquarium of WA) at Hillarys Boat Harbour over the weekend.. delighted to come across a small flock of Welcome Swallows dancing about on the rocks and tops of nearby boats, fed up because can you believe it.. I didn't have my long lens, bah! Called 'welcome swallows' by sailors in times gone by because the sight of a swallow would mean land ahoy!! I think they're the sweetest little creatures and it makes me happy to see them :) I hope that you see something that makes you happy today, take care and stay safe....

  2. Love them! They did not leave yet here; Which means it's still hot enough. But it won't be long now before they fly away..

  10. I know what you mean about the wrong lens. I sometimes think I should carry three cameras with three different lenses. Sometimes I carry a compact camera in my pocket because it has a crazy long lens, much longer than my DSLR.

  11. They are so sweet. Love the name too. Regardless of the lens you certainly got great shots! (Mr. LOL put his back out at weekend. Plenty of ice and visit to chiro y'day. Now he is okay. Thanks for asking. I told him :).)

  12. The Welcome Swallows are beautiful. It took me quite some effort to identify them a few weeks ago. http://highriser.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/day-4-mallacoota-to-merimbula-2009.html I should have had you with me to photograph them.

  20. We'll not be seeing any more swallows this year in the UK; they've all departed for warmer climes - for which I don't blame them at all.
