Even in Australia! This event was organized by the French and Fantastic Automobile Club & the Peugot Car Club, a fundraiser for the Shenton Park Dogs Refuge Home. The sun was shining, the French flag flying, le petanque balls were clicking, le crepes sizzling, although... French readers might want to skip ahead.. there was a glimpse of packaged grated cheese, quelle horreur :) The Supreme Court Gardens with the city skyline in the background was the perfect venue to display these wonderful vintage French cars, how adorable is 'Dolly' below with her umbrella and sunroof!
If I had $10.000 to spare I would definitely give 'Simone' a second thought (white & blue), I can see myself tooting around the local neighbourhood in her..wouldn't brave the freeway though :)
This haughty belle may bat her eyelashes at you...but DON'T TOUCH!! what a tease :)
The sleek beauty below was popular with French ministers back in the 60's and this model features often in the original (and the best) The Day of the Jackal movie set in Paris.....
Check the 'bling' on this wonderful 1939 Citroen.. modern cars have no pizzazz!
The 1973 Citroen DS 23 Cabriolet in mint condition below is a bit of a rarity..less than 1500 were ever produced over a 15 year period between 1958 - 1973....
As with all of the vintage cars the 1913 Mors below attracted a lot of attention, this particular Mors took it's owner almost 20 years to restore to this marvelous condition, that really is a labour of love don't you think!
Signs that made me smile! Naturally there was also a display of the very latest super, duper cars, funnily enough they didn't interest me at all :) I hope your week has started well, happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe.....
What a fabulous display of these vintage cars, Grace. We rarely see them here.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I don't know if there are enough old French cars here to have a club or car show. I'm with you about old cars. I like them much better.
ReplyDeleteOh, I agree, this is a fantastic display of vintage cars!! What a fun day! So colorful! You did get terrific captures, Grace, as always! A fun start for my gray, chilly day!! Hope your week is off to a great start!!
ReplyDeleteWOW........what a great cars and you have captured them very well Grace,
ReplyDeletei like this post very much.
Greetings, Joop
How neat. Mr LOL would love looking around those gems. Looks such a nice day. I hear that Prince Harry paid Perth a visit. Did he stop by for a of tea in your lovely kitchen :).
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection of vintage cars!!
ReplyDeleteThe "MA 2CV" is really a cutie!
Cool cars! We call "Dolly" "Ente", "duckie", cause the green one was taking unleaded gas and was hence "green", pro-nature, and when you see a green one you can pinch another person and make a wish :-)
ReplyDeleteHaven´t seen one in years, though, but when I was 14/15 I once was taken along in such a car - huiiii, you have the feeling you drop over when turning around a corner rather fast.
Oh, did Bro and I pinch each other back then, soooo many wishes! Thanks for the sweet memories, Grace, merci beaucoup!
That Citroen looks particularly appealing!
ReplyDeleteHaha!!! You got me with the "quelle horreurs"!!! Plastic wrapped cheese...indeed!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the 2CV..... it will always be the "Student-Jaguar" to me, as it was called in my days as a student.
ReplyDeleteNeat old cars, I don't think I have ever seen them in my neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bunch of shots, Grace. I love the eyelashes.
ReplyDeleteNice event, Grace. I'm not a car nut, but if money were no object, I might consider that 1939 Citroen.
ReplyDeleteNow those are really cool cars!
ReplyDeleteAh, vintage vehicles and their people! Loved it.
ReplyDeleteI rode a 1973 BMW motorcycle for years

Love those eyelashes!
ReplyDeleteThat Citroen, what a tease! I love the final rich golden yellow beauty too. And all for a great cause! (I will pretend I did not read that about the packaged cheese;-)
ReplyDeleteThese look like fun rides.
ReplyDeleteThe Citroen is such an iconic car and that one with the eyelashes is a real show stopper.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing event, I do love these vintage cars, I would like to visit this event. Thanks for these wonderful pictures, my favorite is the adorable red car with eyelashes! How cute!
ReplyDeleteLéia
I would have loved it there Grace ... especially seeing those quaint Citroen Deux Chevaux.
ReplyDeleteLove the lashes on the car 'eyes'. Deux Chevaux are fascinating little cars, the answer to Hitler's Volkswagen. They have good heating, can drive across a ploughed paddock easily and the rear boot lid folds out to become a picnic table for your poulet et champagne.
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautys, I always loved the DS, which we in dutch call a "frogs mouth" :) :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection of vintage cars. I love the one with the eyelashes, so cute!
ReplyDeleteThere are some BIG BUCKS on that lawn. Would love to take that walk.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun event.
ReplyDeleteI did like your Mayor, although I would have preferred to hear more. She was interviewed jointly with the Mayors of New York and Los Angeles, so the questions and conversation was split among the commentators and the three mayors. But she handled herself very well and appeared smart and articulate.
Lovely car shots. Sun, food and something to look at, how nice.
ReplyDeleteAh, to have a bit of extra cash!
ReplyDeleteDo those eyelashes move as the car moves through traffic, I wonder?
Oh such fab cars Grace - my Hubby would have loved seeing them, being a real car buff!
ReplyDeleteJoy x
There are some very, very fancy cars in this group you've shown us. Ooh la la!
ReplyDeleteMagnifique manifestation, toujours beaucoup de plaisirs a regarder ces belles voitures :)))
ReplyDeleteVery fancy vintage cars, I like it too! Arianna
ReplyDeleteJ'aime ce rendez-vous. Les voitures sont magnifiques et quelques-unes me rappellent ma jeunesse. Wish you a nice day! Kisses from Italy
