We drove to Araluen Botanical Park, 35km south east of Perth yesterday hoping that we still might be in time to see the mass tulip display that happens each year in spring. Alas too late! It was by no means a wasted trip, Araluen is spectacular in every season.. I took so many photos that it was impossible to edit them in time, I'll post some shots tomorrow. On the way home we stopped at the Rose Heritage Cafe for lunch, such a pleasure to look out over the roses some of which were my favourite David Austin's. The French garden was a delight, from the spectacular wisteria arbour above to the 'petit parterre' garden below. On the way to Araluen we passed pear, apple and peach orchards not to mention a vineyard or two.. even though the city is so close, this area in The Darling Range feels like you're right out in the country, tres joli..it's a definite for visitors to Perth! Happy Friday, take care.....

I've only ever been west for about ten days, and your wonderful post and pics have reminded me of the great day I had when my cousin took me there. It's a very impressive place and your photos show it well. Thanks, Grace!

ReplyDeleteAh Spring! it is so nice to see the flowers and trees even though they are around the world.
ReplyDeleteThe wisteria is glorious and I love the arbour walk.
ReplyDeleteIt looks a dreamily edited collection to me! What a fab floral series - roses are perfect anyday and season. (And re: your comment, I'm sure many a stable boy likely ended up with the family fortune:))

ReplyDeleteThat wisteria is pretty enough to paint!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds (and looks) like a place right up my alley. I really do want to see some wisteria in bloom one of these days. That is something we don't have here.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely and there is a place to have a cup of tea too. I especially love the shot of the overhanging trees...the perfect archway.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely place. Your first photo is my favorite.
