Excuse me!

Cottesloe Beach seagulls.. so this is what it's going to be like for the next three weeks, a bird can't enjoy a puddle drink in private without a camera clicking.. still, there will be benefits, all those weird and wonderful man made objects to perch and poo on :) Must admit this is the first time I've noticed that seagulls have a pattern of white spots on their black tail feathers. Looking forward to visiting Sculpture by the Sea on Sunday. Have a good weekend, take care and stay safe..

Visit James to see more Weekend Reflections from around the world..

  2. The white spots are actually on the wing-tips rather than the tail. They are sometimes called "mirrors" by birders. When I was a boy gulls were only seen inland when they followed the plough, the rest of the year you didn't see them. I think we used to admire their graceful beauty far more in those days, before they started hanging around landfill sites and making a nuisance of themselves in towns.

  3. I wonder do they peck at their reflections in water as some birds do when they see their reflections in glass.

  7. That seagull has a great reflection. They will take fresh water where ever they find it. Looking forward to seeing more of the sculptures. Some of them are really terrific.

  8. They can be very mean, I have to wash my windows a lot! ☹ While we are on the beach, they come and grab the chips from your hand if you don't pay attention. Happy weekend Grace!

  16. Okay..I am going to have to look for white dots...problem is I now live inland and would not be able to locate a sea gull. Wonder if pigeons have tail dots?

Looking forward to Sculptures By the Sea...envy you.
