Whaaaat! Can't believe this angry crow is giving me attitude.. I'm not the one waking it up in the morning! Oh, maybe it's because it's fed up with me shouting buzz off you noisy crow when in fact apparently it is an Australian Raven. Impossible to tell the difference until I read that they travel in pairs (see below) and about the throat hackles :)
The Australian raven is one of the world's most intelligent creatures. I think they are a bit wicked also. I was surprised when we visited Pinnaroo Memorial Park over the weekend to see a pair of ravens swoop down and heckle the young kangaroo below, they pecked at it's tail until it hopped off, even then flying after it until mum kangaroo stepped in.. was extraordinary to observe. They do freak me out a little, especially when I walk out to my car in the morning and there is a line of ravens on the fence staring at me. I'm not scared of them, but I won't be watching Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds any time soon 😉Happy new week, take care and stay safe..
...it kind of like the pot calling the kettle black.
ReplyDeleteNasty of them to go after the wee kangaroo!
ReplyDeleteHe sure is, so much that he's actually kind of cute! Silly right, and how charming all the adorable kangaroos they are delightful.
ReplyDeleteI am beginning to distinguish raven from crows but it’s a tough one. They are both smart birds.
ReplyDeleteThat's a fine portrait of the raven. All the crow family seem to be very intelligent, though I wonder about the sense in taking on a kangaroo!
ReplyDeleteThe portrait of the raven is stunning. I've never seen a field filled with kangeroos, very interesting to see. Great photos, Grace.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!
Loads of crows in both Florida and Connecticut. I'm not a fan.
ReplyDeleteCalifornia's ravens too are big smart tough! I've seen them harass an eagle!
ReplyDeleteCrows and ravens are intelligent birds. Your photos are wonderful, especially your first one.
ReplyDeleteYour first shot is quite a portrait. Super. They're quite big birds, aren't they? We have a lot of crows around here, fewer ravens.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of Edgar Allen Poe.
ReplyDeleteHe looks quite put out.
ReplyDeleteOh, Grace, I just don´t know what to say! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat one waking me up the other morning. I finally understood!
And for Hitchcock... there is always The Simpsons! Please have look here, not nice, but just painted!
P.S. Greetings to Aimee.
ReplyDeleteAnd... hey, those ravens look beautiful. Clever guys.
I like this guy!:)ew
ReplyDeleteOMG, that look in the first photo! Scary, leave that kangeroo alone...
ReplyDeleteAren't ravens bigger than crows? They are so, so smart. That kangaroo doesn't know what he got himself into!

Love that first photo. What a face!
ReplyDeleteI'm a little miffed that they are pestering that young kangaroo. It's not like he can fly away after them. They certainly are dramatic looking birds.
ReplyDeleteThey are very clever birds. What a cheek heckling a small kangaroo! I always take my visitors to Pinnaroo Memorial Park. Great photos Grace.
ReplyDeleteCertainly giving you 'the eye' there! Yikes.
ReplyDeleteSuch beady looking eyes. Keep well Diane
