"The world today doesn't make sense ,
so why should I paint pictures that do'.. Picasso.
If he thought the world didn't make sense back then what on earth would he think of the world today! I found the portrait of my favourite artist and co-founder of the cubist movement ironically on the side of.. a cube :) at the Lake Claremont Golf Course. No name which is a shame, love the colours. Do you have a style of painting that you particularly enjoy? Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..
Admittedly I never did get him, though I've seen a folio of sketches that our gallery has from him that tend to be different from his usual weird stuff.
ReplyDeleteI tend to go for Impressionists.
I enjoy the Impressionists too. Picasso has always challenged me.
ReplyDeleteI really like this one, Grace! I don't know if I have a favorite style - pretty open to different things.
ReplyDeleteHe is my favourite painter too. He wa able to do anything he wanted, in sketching, painting, as an engraver, ceramist or sculptor too. What is incredible is the extreme diversity of his work and his determination despite the success in always seeking new forms till the last day of his long life. He really was a genius
ReplyDeleteI love the Picasso quote, it's so true. I admire his work but have a hard time trying to figure it out. I like the portrait of him, it seems so simple.
ReplyDeleteVery Spanish vibe. Yes, I like the colors.
ReplyDeleteThe Picasso quote is good, and more apt today than when he made it. The work is a good representation of him.
ReplyDelete...fabulous!
ReplyDeleteToo Cool
ReplyDeleteVery nice! His quote helps explain his work, which I've not really understood. So I guess that's kind of the point.
ReplyDeleteVery, very true, Grace. I so often think if my Dad was still around he´d go nuts.
ReplyDeleteVery colorful, I like it - and the place where it is to be found.
Wonderful work!
ReplyDeleteI've always been attracted to certain artists rather than any particular style. And Picasso is one of my group of favourite artists. I've never heard his guitar-playing though!
ReplyDeleteGreat quote.
ReplyDeleteUma bela homenagem a Picasso.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.

I like it Grace, and love the colours. Never heard that Pablo played the guitar, maybe one of his hidden talents :)
ReplyDeleteI like the paiting, the ressemblance is very good!
ReplyDeleteI like this one very much. I'm very fond of abstract these days.
ReplyDeleteGreat
ReplyDeleteMy favourite painting style is whatever I can afford to buy.
