After breakfast in Leederville yesterday I walked around the YMCA HQ buildings to see if there were any new murals on the outside walls. I was rewarded with the portrait of Vincent van Gogh above. A Post-Impressionist artist Van Gogh was partial to painting self portraits, his style described as 'bold in colour with dramatic, impulsive and expressive brushstrokes.' I wonder what M van Gogh would have thought of the portrait here, personally I think he looks rather dashing even if somewhat green about the gills :) Happy Monday, take care and stay safe..
...a nice find, Grace.
ReplyDeleteVincent does look ominous.
ReplyDeleteA great find, he's a bit too green :) Have a great week Grace.
ReplyDeleteAmazing Color Pattern!! Way Cool. Also, Love That Shot ' My What Big Teeth You Have'

So nice we're all back in class together now after the holidays, G!
ReplyDeleteVery nice mural, pretty cool even with the green look.
ReplyDeleteHis portrait shows him with an ear, so it must have been before he cut it off. Good photos of this new, creative mural.
ReplyDeleteThat is an interesting Van Gogh, I like it. You're teasing us with your beach blog header! I was at a beach today, but the lake was frozen!
ReplyDeleteAwesome art work. Greetings.
ReplyDeleteBit of an odd colour but a rather good work.
ReplyDeleteNice mural - it seems to have some sense of movement. If you're interested in Van Gogh see if you can find a DVD of "Loving Vincent," an amazing movie with animation in his distinctive painting style. It's a feast.
ReplyDeleteLove the coloring...But on morning show there were talking about Van Gogh and his art.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
He sure looks well fed, Grace :-)
ReplyDeleteNot like the likely nearly starving real artist, huh ;-)
I like the mural, but I don't see Vincent van Gogh. Not for a moment
ReplyDeletePerhaps this is how Vincent would like to have looked.
ReplyDeleteWho ever painted the Van Gogh mural has talent.
ReplyDeletePerhaps a bit to critical but it doesn't look like v. Gogh. The proportions especially in the nose and mouth area are lets say not correct.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of the year, as well as today's mural. I think you like art as much as I do! So glad you enjoyed your Sydney family.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and thanks for stopping by Greensboro Daily Photo. I understand it isn't so easy to get to (trying to work on that)..
Janis
Wonderful art well captured!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm a bit too chubby for Vincent I think.
ReplyDeletevan Gogh meets street art! great! ew :)
ReplyDeleteI think he would approve, Grace!
ReplyDeleteThat is brilliant, thought I recognised the face! Take care Diane
