One centimetre of trouble!

Arachnophobics beware! They say everything is big in Texas.. we don't do too badly here in Australia either :) The redback spider, in the same genus as the black widow spider, is one of the few venomous spiders that can be seriously harmful to humans and guess what.. they quite like to make their homes in or near our homes.. so when did you say you're arriving in Perth :) Come on don't be a'feared, just watch for webs and you'll be right.. plus, the adult female is only 1cm in body length, we have a definite size advantage :)  This ginormous beauty adorns the exterior wall of the Crooked Spire Coffee and Art House in Midland, an amazing space named after St. Mary and All Saints, the world famous Crooked Spire Church in Chesterfield UK. You didn't really think I'd get this up-close and personal with an actual spider did you :) Now that I've freaked you out I'll leave, happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

  1. Nice, at least that one is ok. I thought the Funnel Web was the one to watch out for

  2. I do not like spiders at the best of times and was not impressed when my BIL showed a funnel web spider when we visited Sydney. You can keep your spiders :-( Have a good day Diane

  7. I'm a spider killer, hate them but that one on the building is OK. When I first read the redback spider, I thought it said redneck and chuckled to myself. I guess your mention of Texas threw me off. :)
    Have a great day Grace.

  8. Even if I was a coffee drinker, I think I'd pass on that cup.

  11. Oh how I hate spiders so I don't think this would inspire me to go inside.

  12. Can I describe a building as "cute." 'Cause I think this one is cute. And the spider is definitely cute. When I lived in Phoenix/Scottsdale many years ago, we often found black widow spiders in a storage shed outside and in the kitchen area. We just got accustomed to looking for them and not sticking our hands or noses in dark and dank spaces!

  16. You have given us another reason to stay home in bed. How could you spot a 1 cm creature?

  25. Now this is something I wouldn't want to find in my home--or climbing up the side of a building where I could see it!
