After dinner downstairs in the Brisbane Hotel on Wednesday evening, we made our way upstairs to Lazy Susan's Comedy Den to visit Frankie's old jazz and blues bar. The only dedicated comedy room in WA, Lazy Susan's 'Fistful of Wednesdays' happening every Wednesday through October is a totes amazeballs way to unwind after work.. was that a smile I just heard :) I imagine it takes nerves of steel to stand up on stage without a script, improv theatre is risky, it could go either way, on Wednesday evening the cast, and guest singer 'Penetrating Pete' :) above, skillfully creating songs from random audience suggestions, were excellent! The lighting was tricky.. or was it the two glasses of wine, who knows :) A big thanks to the crew at the Brisbane who looked after us so well, merci beaucoup! Happy Friday, take care and stay safe...
We have a couple of comedy clubs here that I know of... but I've never been to a performance.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun time Grace. Never been to a live show. Comedy for me is that most of it is not funny or I just don't get it which is probably right. Live and in the audience is probably much better and funnier. :)
ReplyDeleteI always love a good comedy club!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you hit the place on a good night, Grace!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fun night out as has to be for that special day, Grace :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I really enjoy catching acts at a comedy club! Live is best!
ReplyDeleteAs you say, these places can go either way: either the comics are terrific or they are terrible. I agree that's a very hard way to make a living, but kudos to those who are willing to give it a try. Having said that, I must ask, what the heck is a "totes amazeballs"? And, comedy is an aphrodisiac? Hmm...does that mean it makes someone laugh and laugh and laugh? 😸
ReplyDeleteI could never go up on a stage and perform like that. Hope you had a great time.
ReplyDeleteThis made me think of a movie I saw recently called "Don't Think Twice" about an improv group in New York. Some people can make this seem so easy when I know it's not easy at all. It sounds like you had a great time!
ReplyDeletePenetrating Pete? How extraordinary. It's good to go out at night, even if it is hard work at times
ReplyDeleteFeels like I enjoyed it with you, birthday princess!
ReplyDeleteUma bela reportagem.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom fim-de-semana.
