Just another rainy day!

Storms on the weekend added a touch of drama to the skies over Perth.. taken from Kings Park. Looking forward to the time when I can take a shot from here and not be distressed by the scar construction on the foreshore! The long low curved building to the left is the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre where Aimee, self confessed 'nerd'  :) spent most of her weekend enjoying Supanova

I like the shot above because as well as the misty shapes of the city shrouded in rain you can see where the Narrows Bridge crosses the Swan River from city side to South Perth and also the red rooftops of the The Old (Swan) Brewery. Exiting onto Riverside Drive below we spotted a couple having pre-wedding photos taken in front of the Crawley boatshed.. in the rain! I don't get the 'pre-wedding' photo thing, it's bad enough on the day :)

... and look (closely), they were still at it on the way back :)

A quick drive by shot of  'the giants view' by Perth artist Kyle Hughes-Odgers which can be seen from the freeway as you drive into and out of the city. Happy Monday, or Sunday :) take care...

  1. Love the mural but the rain not so much. Those will be moody pre-weding pics!

  2. Ah, looks like Portland all winter with all those grumpy, gray skies and RAIN!! But I do love your captures and they make the rain and gray skies look wonderful. Great mural, too! You always have such a great series of shots regardless of the weather, Grace, and I do ENJOY them so much!! Have a great new week!!

  4. From your photos I see
    And I think you'd agree
One should give a wide berth
    To Perth when it storms.
    And should also avoid
    Couples to be
    Who do photography
    Standing out in the rain!

  6. There's something a bit surreal about that first photo...I really like it! And I love how you captured the grey days with just bits of color hear and there!!! When I see weather like this...I want to curl up on the sofa with a good book or old movie and a cup of tea!!!

  8. Seems like they should have saved at least a couple of shots for the marriage afterwards. :-)

  11. Very dramatic Grace. I like the mural too. I thinks those skies are presently over top of my house releasing lots of lightning, thunder, rain and wind.

  13. I assume the second photo was taken after the first. How threatening the sky looks in the first, but then it just ended up being rain.

  14. I like that mural. Wet pre-wedding photos... Ah well, if they want to, why not?

  15. As usual, I wish we could trade some of our hot, dry weather for some of your showers (but not too many!).

  16. Really great and atmospheric shots, which I like a lot. These would work in black and white as well.

  17. I love all the rainy weather shots of the city. The clouds in the top shot look especially turbulent. Supernova looks a lot like our Comicon that was in Phoenix a couple of weeks ago. What fun!

  21. The first sky looks wonderfully dramatic. I think I would have given the pre-wedding photos a miss.

  22. That shot through the windshield seems to put you in the place of a hurricane/cyclone spotter. Many couples around here do the pre-wedding shots at a half dozen famous locations around town. They all look the same. Andy and Claire weren't having any of it, despite being surrounded by all the monuments of Chicago. Easier on the photographer, too.

  28. Love the stormy sky. Thought the curved convention center was another elevated freeway. Sorry about that. Of course love the mural. For visiting aliens, they sure know how to dress in fashionable colors. haha. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural Grace.
