Yesterday...

Yesterday was perfect.. it rained all day. I was certain Hyde Park would look fabulous with it's many plane trees in winter mode.. wasn't disappointed. The shot above purely because it is wintery pretty :) the close up of the trunk of the plane trees that line the lake would make a brilliant but tricky jig-saw puzzle don't you think, I haven't noticed the many shades of winter colours in them before..

Good to see I'm not the only one who enjoys an invigorating walk in the rain..

The sweet little Kookaburra and his mate sat up in the winter branches, diving down every now and then for a morsel from the lake, the bird below with a little fish in his beak, I didn't have time to change to a longer lens, would have been a better close-up. Looks like the weather will be more of the same most of the week.. umbrella shots to come :) Happy new week, take care and stay safe..

  1. C'est bien d'avoir de la pluie de temps à autre quand le soleil est si souvent généreux

  8. Every species of gum (our word: eucalyptus) tree has its own amazing bark patterns. A watercolorist, who volunteered as a guide, once gave me a tour of the National Botanical Gardens in Canberra and spent the entire time opening the eyes of the group to this remarkable variety. Your photo reminds me of that.

  12. I have a post scriptum concerning the commentary you let under my post about karachi. In fact i used the term lavandier which doen’t exist in french. We have lavandière to name the women who do the laundry. But as it was a strictly feminine activity there is no male equivalent. It has nothing to do with lavender, which doesn't grow to the size of a tree. Lavandieres are just the ones who wash. French is as sneaky a language as those who speak it (especially when they play rugby).

I'll contact you next week to arrange for maybe the 10th, as this Friday I've already got something on. Hope you're feeling better.

  16. I say, bring on the umbrella shots! Have you ever done the digital puzzles, Grace? I do them on the tablet. They have an area where a person can upload their own art/photos to do but I haven't done that. I like the idea, but I don't do it. If that makes sense. If I had the software and could just make digital puzzles for me and my friends, that I would do.
