Aimee and I zipped down to Fremantle yesterday to have breakfast and to take pics of the Dragon Boat Festival in the boat harbour. I hadn't realized that dragon boat racing was so big in WA but there were many crews and even more people watching. Unfortunately we couldn't find a spot to see the crews coming in but found a brilliant spot to watch them going out. Don't my favourite fishing boats make a fantastic backdrop.. so much colourful fun. Aimee made me laugh when she saw the tights on the man above, 'I have some just like that' she said 'I should have worn them for the occasion' also she wasn't happy about the viking hat in the last shot 'that's not an authentic viking hat'.. she cracks me up 😄 Happy Monday, take care and stay safe..
...fabulous boats, but it looks a bit crowded to me.
ReplyDeleteNo it’s not not an authentic Viking hat. Aimee is right!
ReplyDeleteLove the colours in these photos.

It's a lot of fun to watch. Our summer version comes up in June or July, and our winter one was a blast. Terrific shots!
ReplyDeleteSo colourful, and I hope you both enjoyed breakfast!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I find the pants in the first photo. I find it fitting reminds me of scales.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
Looks like fun and I agree that hat is not correct 😊 I envy you having Aimee to go out with. We used to have dragon boat racing in Oxford when we were there, guess they still have it. Take care and enjoy the week. Diane
ReplyDeleteNice dragon boats and a very nice harbour. Nice shots, Grace.
ReplyDeleteFun event even with the fake Viking helmet guy!
ReplyDeleteInteresting boats. I wonder if anyone (other than a museum) has a real ancient Viking hat.
ReplyDeleteWhat great shots! I've seen dragon boats in Victoria, B.C. but if they're around here I've missed them (Crewing is popular in Seattle). (We're headed out on an adventure for about a week. I may not comment regularly but have posts scheduled in my absence.)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a lot of fun. That your daughter knows what an authentic Viking hat looks like is impressive.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and colorful event. If they do anything like that here, I've never heard about it. I'll have to check and see. I love the tights and the silly Viking hat.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool day to see so many differently decorated boats.
ReplyDeleteA very colourful and fun day Grace.
ReplyDeleteWhat are vikings doing on a dragon boat ... I thought they originated in China.
ReplyDeleteLove those shots but I agree that you picked the best for a bigger exposure at top.
ReplyDeleteIt looks all very colourful, those wobly boats....nothing for me...:(
ReplyDeletewhat a great place to snap photos, and for participants, to let your personality shine through.

ReplyDeleteAutostadt has a similar event (usually, who knows what happens now the Diesel affair has it´s grip on it) - but dragons are ... Yiiiikes... so much more fun! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe first shot I like!
ReplyDeleteI gift a new title like as 'The King of Dragon and his Son' ;)
