Libra (moi) trait: indecisive! Whatever happened to white just being white..I discovered that there are many, many shades of white with names like 'promised land', 'intimate white', 'love note' and 'white belle'. I eventually settled on 'antique white USA' (it's vital to clarify the USA as... you guessed it there are many shades of antique white!) with 'cradle white' trim, we'll see how that works out. Much more important matters however are the Federal elections tomorrow, I don't often talk politics (?) on the blog, but I will say this, I'm hoping for a miracle tomorrow, if the voting goes the way of the popularity polls we should be afraid, very afraid! I have a feeling that your Saturday is going to be better than mine :) take care.....p.s. I'm a happy little camper since I got the hotplate below to use until the hob is connected...in FOUR weeks :))
The sort of person who names shades of white (I should be surprised, but I'm not) must surely have too much time on their hands.
ReplyDeleteAh, elections. Do your civic duty and then hope for the best but expect the worst.
I hope people there vote for the right politic! :) Hey, thanks so much for your kind words. We are on the road again, enjoying the last days of vacations with our daughter because in some days the classes at University will start again. Hmmm I think I can stay for some days with her in Portsmouth! By the way, I love your idea for "white", and I love red, ahhh you know...Marina is studying Interior Design :) oh yesssss! hugs and happy weekend! Léia ( Luna is sending purrs and love to your heart )
ReplyDeleteWe live in a politic nightmare here since more than one year now, so I understand your fear..
ReplyDeleteWe had an advertising here some years ago, for a washing powder supposed to be washing linen "whiter than white" (!), so I'm no more surprised by 50 shades of white! :o)
Have a great week-end!
All the designers here seem to use "cloud white". You see it everywhere in the magazines!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the election - it was a big topic on our radio this a.m.
Wow, Grace, your kitchen is huge - so much worth the wait, oui! And the colors, awww!
ReplyDeleteSame here. Will vote (on 22/09) a totally new party and hope for the best... politics... bleh.
Keeping fingers crossed for the poll.
ReplyDeleteNow that's the epitome of a fantastic cook: THAT pot on a hotplate! :-)
A very nice white.
ReplyDeleteI hope they give politicians the desired results.
Hugs and kisses.
Haha!!! I think I've used Antique White USA before!!! Isn't remodeling the kitchen fun??? We had our kitchen set up outside under the covered patio...I think ours lasted 6 or 8 weeks...I've tried to forget that part!!!! The best part of the remodeling process was eating out frequently!!! Good luck...and when it's getting to you...just remember..."this too shall pass"!!! And when it's done, it will have been well worth it!!! My only regret is not having done it sooner!!!
ReplyDeleteTo make white more white you ad blue, go figure!
ReplyDeleteThis post has excited me more than you could imagine Grace! I've been there and done that where the thousands of shades of white are concerned - oh yeah. (That brochure with the stone whites - haven't seen it before!! Do tell, which manufacturer has that one?):)
ReplyDeleteMmm, your kitchen is happening.......
Oh well, I'd best tidy up and head off to the polls........I'm nervous too..
PS: -chuckle- I could not resist popping back to tell you that there are, apparently, 'officially' 180 different shades of white. That's my daily trivia.....

Hang in there, Grace.
ReplyDeleteFifty shades of politics....hmm, that would have to be different hues of brown, if you know what I mean!
ReplyDeleteI trust you, Grace. You will pick great colors. (Love the red accents . . . lots of red in my life, too.)
ReplyDeleteAnd good luck for your candidates in the election.
good luck with your election - (I was probably listening to the same show as RedPat!)
ReplyDeletebeen there, too with the paint selection.
I hate elections and that feeling that things could not turn out like I would like them to.
ReplyDeleteSelecting colors is always confusing. Mine always turn out differently that expected. Politic can be invigorating and extremely frustrating, too.
ReplyDeleteGood to see that you are making progress. In the end it will all be worth it. Enjoy your weekend in spite of the politics.
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
It'll look fab when you're done! I get the feeling you cook fantastic meals in that one pot and hotplate! Fingers crossed for the elections!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder who comes up with paint names, some of them sound good enough to eat...I can't vote, but I do hope the outcome is good for Australia.
ReplyDeletePaul Keting once said "When you change the government, you change the country". Let's hope it's not a change for the worse.
ReplyDeleteLate afternoon....... I'm afraid
ReplyDeleteAll those names for white is ridiculous indeed! Best luck with your camping menus.
ReplyDelete... Grey. They seem to be filled with most of the same.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the election. I at times console myself by reflecting on some of the poor Presidents we have had in the USA, and we seem to have survived, so I am sure you will emerge from a bad election cycle and correct things in the future, if the election does not go your way.
ReplyDeleteChoosing paint is a task I don't envy. I've stood in front of the those thousands of sample cards before and been completely overwhelmed. Good luck with the elections. Sometimes that is even scarier than paint sample cards.
ReplyDeleteI'm almost always afraid when it comes to federal politics. I have no idea why most of the electorate has such poor judgement and can't judge character. :))
ReplyDeleteWhite with a soft tint is such a good choice, in my opinion.
I'd offer to help but....I'm a lazy git.
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence! I'm choosing whites too as I will have works in my house starting tomorrow. It will be a messy week as I hate having my house turned upside down and that's how it already looks now as I had to empty my living room.
ReplyDeleteAs to elections, we'll have them on the 29th (Mayoral elections) and I can't believe the political campaign is about to start as I can't stand hearing politicians and their lies anymore!
We had an election yesterday, and a new PM will start next month.
ReplyDeleteIf you take a look at my posting, click on the label "politicians".
Anyway, looks like the work is going well, and I look forward to see it later too.
I do like colors, but different shades of white makes the rooms bigger.
Best of luck with the work.
Another 4 weeks? I know ours took so long because I was doing all the work, how many men do they have over working on your kitchen? And how fancy will it be?
