Light on the jetty, reflections & Craig's Pie.....
I took these shots a few nights ago looking out from Zing Cafe at Hillary's Marina where we had dinner for P's birthday. I normally forget that my new Olympus OM-D has many 'arty' inbuilt features and tend to stick to the 'see it as it is' type shots..but after espying Aimee's fantastic shots of the tall ships I thought I just might get a little more adventurous :) Using the 'Art' setting I switched to Dramatic Tone with filter for these two shots to create a bit of cloud/reflection drama with hints of colour and link the shot above to Skywatch Friday and the image below to Weekend Reflections.
Craig in Ayrshire posted a recipe for this delicious Key Lime Pie a few days ago which Aimee 'baker extraordinaire' kindly made for my lunch guests yesterday. Check out the ingredients, there's no way this pie could be anything but luscious to a 'sweet tooth'.. from now on in our house it will be known as 'Craig's cake' :) I added a little sprig of Geraldton Wax to give it that WA touch! If the rain holds off this weekend it's taming my garden (read jungle) that my sister in law Sue calls 'a romantic garden'.. she is a poet :) for moi..how about you? Happy Friday, take care and stay safe.....

Awesome, dramatic skies, terrific captures and I'll have a large piece of the key lime pie!! That looks particularly awesome to me this morning!! I'd better have some breakfast! Enjoy a lovely weekend, Take care!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! It really did add a dramatic effect to the photos. It's amazing what modern day cameras can do.
ReplyDeleteI love hanging around Marinas! There is so much to see and places to explore. Oh yeah, that pie looks so good! One piece of it right now would hit the spot...
Wow - those shots are DRAMA with a capital D! I love them. As for the pie - it looks WAY more professional than mine. Please tell Aimee that it's not polite to show up the cook :) I'm glad that she made it and that it worked out so well. It's a nice easy recipe that I think delivers a lot on taste.
ReplyDeleteWhat a dramatic sky, outstanding shots, Grace!
ReplyDeleteIs the 2nd shot taken through a window? I believe I see some reflections...

From a salty tooth: That pie looks interesting! But, oh, do i look forward to a meat-pie! Or a spinach-cheese-pie... from the land of no pies on a Thursday evening: Have a great Friday afternoon :-)
Spectacular Heaven.

The shots turned out so well, Grace! I'm off to check out the pie recipe!

Great results with those settings, Grace!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link too for the pie. Got it down. Key Lime pie junkie here!
These are incredible. Especially the second. I sure don't want to start using artistic effects. It is hard enough just taking normal shots.
ReplyDeleteYour camera must be pretty fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a contrast in those skies! Absolutely beautiful:)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, my "good" Canon has a few artsy features and I feel free to experiment. That way they are SOC right?
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous shots!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in the first shot.
ReplyDeletePretty cool artsy feature! Terrific captures!
ReplyDeleteFabulous light. I've never used all those extra settings on me E-M5, being a bit old school for digital photography - set the exposure yourself and snazz it up in Photoshop. More time consuming but more control. I gotta try those settings, though.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are positively inspiring, Gracie. Thanks for the mention, too :o))

ReplyDeleteWow! You are getting adventuresome with that new camera! Lovely. Pie looks delicious. Busy weekend here despite the rain...
ReplyDeleteLovely photo of those dark clouds against the light sky :)
ReplyDeleteGreat dramatic shots!
ReplyDeleteLooks like someone threw big black blobs and buckets of color into the sky. Beautiful photography!
ReplyDeleteI can't choose what is the most fabulous here, the clouds or the cake?!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week-end, Gracie!
The heck with fiddling with photo shop. I'll take a slice of that dessert.
ReplyDeleteHalloween skies. Fantastic! I'll take a slice of that pie too. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love, love, LOVE Key Lime Pie!
ReplyDeleteBut of the photos, the first one's my favorite!
I love this effect. Great job.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love reflections, beautiful skies and key lime pies! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWow. Those are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow, lovely scene and sky captures! The pie looks delicious! Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteI prefer to shoot without any arty filters. I'm sure the normal snaps looked okay.
ReplyDeleteTwo stunning catches. You have a clever camera and a very good eye.
