It rained pretty much solidly all day yesterday and yes I could have donned my wet weather gear and braved the weather but I had my new baby (camera) to think about didn't I :) besides it was so much cosier indoors. Instead I had a bit of fun with some shots I took last weekend at the nursery..close up and personal above and even closer..superimposed below.. bit of a cheek really, they were charging $20 for this pot of 'definitely past their best' hothouse grown tulips, does that seem a bit pricey to you or is that just my Scots blood showing :)) How do you keep your camera gear dry in the wet weather, helpful tips would be most welcome as I think the rain is here to stay for the next week! Happy Thursday, take care.....
Great shot Grace. I too think the tulips were far too pricey!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures, Grace!! I love the superimposed one! Such lovely colors! Yep, far too pricey indeed, but typical!! Seems like everything these days are way too pricey -- at least for my purse!! Hope your week is going well!
ReplyDeleteYou gave us flowers for FREE! Thanks, pal :-)
ReplyDeleteAloha
I love your 1st shot, Grace, so colourful and without a drop of rain :)
ReplyDeleteWell Gracie, it's difficult to know about the camera in a rainy day because I'm always worried about my hair! LOL
ReplyDeleteNo kidding!
You girl are skilled at photography, these are wonderful pictures! Congratulations!I love both and wow amazing color!
bisous
Léia
Those flowers are gorgeous! I love that strong red!
ReplyDeleteAbout protecting camera, no idea. It does not rain much around here.
Staying at home seems the best?..
Excellent like the the bright colours.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Filip
Too pricey! I just don't take the camera out in the rain. ;-)
ReplyDeleteNothing surprises me anymore regarding prices... But the photos are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely far too pricy. Even for peak blooms, I say. (yes, a bit Scottish)
ReplyDeleteI have a lens hood that I use. It sometimes keeps the rain off if it is falling directly down and not too angled.
Still pretty colors
ReplyDeleteGorgeous bright colors!!! Love the superimposed one! And yes...at that stage they ought to be free!!!
ReplyDeleteAs for rainy days and cameras...I do like you do...stay inside and find something to shoot in macro!!! However, if it's just misting or snowing...I might just brave the elements for that one shot...
BEAUTIFUL these colors....i love it.
ReplyDeleteLong after the blooms of the tulip have faded your photos will photos will last.
ReplyDeleteYou wimp Grace. You have Scots blood in you woman... get out there in that rain. It's what we do!
ReplyDeleteThe tulips are wonderful... one of my favourite flowers actually. I just wish that they lasted longer!
How lovely! These shots will brighten everyone's day for sure.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful shots here Grace and they will certainly brighten a dull day. Since we seldom have rain I'm afraid I have no tips for keeping the gear dry. When I do take photos in the rain it's usually a light rain that won't really hurt anything. I have had to clean water spots off the lens from time to time but that is really my extent of water protection.
ReplyDeleteOh and yes, $20 is way to much for tulips.
Beautiful, strong color, but 20$ does appear a bit high for tulips. As far as keeping the gear dry, a really low-tech solution is a plastic bag. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThe colors are very vibrant and cheery indeed! $20 is too pricey!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours in the shots, Grace!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is so beautiful! Vivid!
ReplyDeleteVery nice...
These are painfully bright, Grace. In the rain, I put away the DSLR and use the little guy that I can keep in my pocket and then protect from rain when held near my eye but under my Tilley hat.
ReplyDeleteI photograph in the rain but not very often. I usually tuck the camera inside my clothes; easier if it's chilly and I'm wearing a jacket.
ReplyDeleteGreat pop of color.
ReplyDeleteYour special treatment is pretty fabulous.
ReplyDeleteSuch the flowers looking beautiful and delightful.
ReplyDeleteThe tulips are lovely but I agree not cheap for past their best! I only take the little hand held supermarket special out on wet days, the Nikon stays at home! Have a good day, Diane
ReplyDeleteDrab day here too. Twenty dollars is not as much as they were paying during the tulip craze. As for the wet weather, luckily it never rains in Sydney! ;-)
ReplyDeleteVery punchy colours in these photographs.
ReplyDeleteLovely rich colours, pricey flowers. My camera was in its bag inside another bag , on my back but torrential rain on a Dorset walk last week meant it still got damp. Seems to have dried out ok...
ReplyDeletehi grace. i once had to walk for a couple of months in the rain. i had my trusty lens cloth with me every day (I still do, doesn't everyone keep a lens cloth in their pocket?)and dried the camera and water-spotted lens off regularly. tried to protect the camera from exposure to rain as much as possible but in the end the excessive moisture brought an early demise to the camera. my advice...leave your good equipment at home and take a camera that is not too dear. but definitely go out in the rain. you can get some marvelous images.
ReplyDeleteSoo vivid colors...lovely flowers...
ReplyDeleteI won't take my dear camera out in much rain :)
Love the color...But they are just past prime...hopefully folks don't describe me that way!. It has been raining here forever! Plz send the sun....
ReplyDeleteI definitely like the color! And the superimposed image is neat. Very artistic. :)
ReplyDeleteSizzling and vibrant!
ReplyDeleteRain and cold over here, too. 18C. In the hottest month of the year...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot Grace... one of my favourite colours!
ReplyDeleteGreat artistic images!
ReplyDeleteLove them both.
Absolutely gorgeous, Grace!
