Sailing on the Swan.....

The South Perth foreshore is a popular point for sailing on the Swan River, you can hire one of these catamarans (funcats) and even if you are not adept at sailing there will be experienced staff to show you how to go about it, hmmm! I don't think so..not me...ok, moving on!! It does look great fun and apparently there is always the possibility of seeing a dolphin or two when they pop up in the river..now that WOULD be nice, dolphins have a way of making you feel happy...!! Just incase you hadn't noticed there's another glimpse of the city.... some other things that you might see as you walk along by the river are pelicans, black swans, lots of seagulls and also the occasional white faced heron.....

  3. That pelican is so cute - don't you just love the way they turn their necks around and face backwards!

  4. Aw, jeez, this is such a great post and your photos are so exquisite I want to hop a plane and head your way! I'm with you about catamarans although in my younger days I'd have tried anything. Older and wiser or just older and more fearful? I dunno.

Thanks for sharing these delightful pics.

  5. The black swans look so formal! The weather looks so wonderful there - weather is the #1 topic of conversation for Canadians I think.

  7. When we sail in the Gulf of Mexico (within view of shore) the humming of the keel attracts dolphins. The water is a bit chilly here right now for a boat of this size.

    Love the photos, mon amie.

  8. There is something about the colorful sails in the first photo that calls to mind a Van Gogh painting. Except that he hardly ever painted the Perth skyline . . .

  14. I'll do it after our cuppa (Lowell and Bergson might be there too) and bring you back some photos of dolphins! What a wonderful place for a walk!

  16. Great location! I'm always a bit leery about boat rentals. But, I do love to dolphin watch! I see them regularly here in Florida and I still get excited. Btw, regarding the roundabout and distractions -- I thought the same thing! Several years ago, a large fountain in the middle of a roundabout in Clearwater, FL was removed because so many motorists drove right into it.

  22. I like the quiet and the view. We have a very strong wind and rough sea today and the 'lungomare' is closed for safety reasons.
