Un tributo agli antenati.....!

The design for the Fishermen's Memorial was the idea of a number of Italian fishermen in acknowledgement of the work their forefathers had done in developing a multi- million dollar industry. It was unveiled in 2005 and incorporates 12 timber columns with the names of 608 fishermen engraved, and two bronze sculptures. The older fisherman represents the pioneers, he is designed to look as if he is climbing out of his boat carrying a basket of fish and looking across and making eye contact with the younger fisherman who might well have been his son who is now a cray fisherman. I like it very much and think it is an excellent tribute to hard work in dangerous conditions.... The sun is shining again in Perth today and tomorrow and hopefully where you are too, have a great weekend.....!!

  21. Fascinating memorial, I like the idea and the way they realized it. If you can,e please post a detailed view of each statue, they seem quite remarkable for something made in the Third Millennium!
