Policing Perth style.....
I'd have to say compared to a lot of cities Perth is pretty laid back, as evidenced in this summer style of policing..The top picture was taken a couple of years ago at the Red Bull Airshow, with the horses slowly meandering through the crowds keeping one eye out for trouble makers and the other eye on the show!! The bottom picture is more or less the same deal but with bicycles instead of steeds. Don't you just love the hairy, muscly legs protruding from the shorts..! Don't be mistaken though, if there is any real trouble our police force is more than ready to tackle it full on and it does happen now and then, even in Perth.....!!

Great place to live!
ReplyDeleteI am sure Perth is a great place. It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI think that's common in a lot of cities these days. We have horse and bicycle police and I wouldn't exactly call us laid back. Of course, it's only in certain parts of the city.
ReplyDeleteWhen on a trip to South Africa, I met a few people at the airport from Perth who moved during Apartheid. The represented your city very well...charming people.
ReplyDeleteWe, too, have a small mounted police force. Love seeing them and taking their photos.
Beautiful horses! Looks like a nice park.
ReplyDeletej'adore la police montée, qui souvent ne sert que pour faire des photos avec les touristes ;) ; mais la classe sur leurs chevaux
ReplyDeleteThat kind of police look effective and stylish. In Mexico, well you should know. Sad history.
ReplyDeleteWe have horses and bicycles too now. I'm pretty sure horses are quite effective.
ReplyDeletethe mounted police look so regal!
ReplyDeleteFantastica Australia!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day
Ciao
Matteo
I've always heard Perth to be laid back but haven't made it there yet. One day. Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteHreat pictuyres! It's not the kind of transportation, it's the guys!
ReplyDeleteOK, Great pictures...
ReplyDeleteLove to see these horse details policing a city. We lost ours to budgets cuts, Tsk, tsk, tsk.
ReplyDeleteLove those horses in the top shot - beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat and intense color that bring the horses to that picture. It is also true that the police seems to be ready for any situation.
ReplyDeleteWhat would be the most common cause of problems involving the police?
Great images Grace. I really like the visibility in our community of these policing approaches.
ReplyDeleteI love the police horses - beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI really like to closeness of your brick paved streets. It is lovely to see the police in pairs on the street. I would like to share a coffee with you or anybody along that street. So nice.
ReplyDeleteI've seen these types of patrols here but, not very often. In fact, a lot less so in the summer here because of the intense heat. They will be back in the fall.
ReplyDeleteWe have both. I showed a mounted policeman last month. If I were going to work in law enforcement, I would like one of the bicycle jobs.
ReplyDeleteIt´´s look a quiet place to live, as well as being quiet, it´´s ecologic. And one of this could be the next winner of the Tour of France chasing after a criminal ;)
ReplyDeleteGreetings and thank you one more time for your visits and comments.
good eye and you were fast to capture these!
ReplyDeleteThose are great looking horses! We have the mounted cops too and more and more bike cops. The bikes let them get around fast and in all kinds of secluded places. Perth sounds great.
ReplyDeleteThe horses are so pretty! I wonder if the policemen take care of the horses as well?
ReplyDeleteInteresting to use horses and bikes for Police teams... So they're near cityzens...
ReplyDeleteRegards from France,

oh what great a place it must be, where something alike is possible.
ReplyDeleteplease have a good thursday.
it;s nice to know that, although Perth seems to be the quaint, the police forces are always on the move and are responsible, trustworthy people.
ReplyDeletebut here, sadly, it's quite the opposite.
