As a postscript to yesterdays theme...when my great nephew comes visiting, he naturally seems to gravitate towards my computer, a bit like a homing pigeon, which begs the question, ' how young is too young to start with computers?' We live in a fast paced gadget filled world, is it best that they get with the program early or get left behind? Meanwhile, it would probably have been best for my computer if I had stopped him pressing buttons, but it was much more fun to grab my camera and take many, many photos of him looking exactly like he knew what he was doing.... he's two by the way!!
Grace, he is adorable! I think that playing on occasion with computers at age 2 or 3 is fine although I would not be interested in any kids spending hours on technology daily. It is the future, but love it when their interests are playing outdoor games, running, playing ball, playing the piano, etc. He is so cute, I would probably indulge him just about anything!

Hi Genie,yes he is absolutely delightful, I have so many photos of him running about in the garden too. You're right, the balance has to be made between one and the other. How are things in Paris today? Lucky you.

His parents are a little bit "hippy" so I don't think he'll get too much computer time for a while Ciel.
I think it's fine for such little ones to be computer literate almost before they can walk...it's the world they are born to and will have to cope with, but for balance, they need a lot of running about outside too :-)

ReplyDeletemy grand-daughter is 10 months and I can skype her for less than a minute before she is pressing buttons etc ... she also knows how to turn the tele on with the remote from the sofa, and how to eject cds from the machine. It is all around them ...
