Saturday evening past we went with mon amie française Marie to the Twilight Markets in Maylands. Early mornings and late evenings are the best times to be out and about in this heatwave we are experiencing at the moment.. I think it's called summer :) After the market we had a stroll along the river and it was amazing to see the number of huge trees uprooted in one of the big storms we had last year. I'm guessing erosion caused by the close proximity to the waters edge didn't give the roots a strong enough hold to withstand the strong gusts of wind. Most of the trees had been cleared away but some left for the birds to nest in. Is it just me or is everyone still having probs with blogger, it's a nightly adventure to see whether I win against the beast, it's been touch and go a couple of times but so far I have prevailed, interpretation: so far I've managed to not put my fist through the screen :) Gaaah! Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

ReplyDeleteUprooted trees do happen here too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful evening light in your photos. Uprooted trees happen. Sorry you are having trouble with blogging. Stay safe and cool.
ReplyDeleteWind and erosion have certainly played a role in the uprooting of those trees. We have a lot of trees here with shallow root beds so when storms blow through we see that sort of thing quite often.
ReplyDeleteSorry you are having trouble with blogger. I've been doing okay lately. But troubles with it do come and go.
We have some by the rivers every so often. I have few problems with blogger but seem to work it out ok. There was no way they needed to change it. :(

Dearest Grace,
ReplyDeleteSeeing such giants being uprooted by wind gusts makes us aware of how 'little' we are in this life...!
What I hate from the new Blogger is that no thumbnail photo shows up on the sideline. One wonders how a few bloggers seem to be unaffected by it; for whatever mysterious reason. I'm a very visual person and the thumbnail should be the attention grabber!
WISH we had summer here and heat.
Hugs,
Mariette
Climate change is hard on the trees and other plants too.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I post a blog I tense up since I am never sure what blogger may do to me. It works fine most of the time but it is certainly not relaxing.
Waves from passing boats must have an effect in undermining tree roots, even if there is a low speed limit.
ReplyDeleteEvery wind storm here we lose more trees. I fear a future without large trees.
ReplyDeleteLOL, we have a heatwave, too, Grace, some whopping 5C! My hands are icy-cold, the tea too hot.
ReplyDeletePoor trees. Dangerous.
You made me laugh. Yes, blogger and I are no friends any longer, we FIGHT. But, you know what? I WIN!!! HA-HA! You do, obviously, too! Let´s stay strong! 😉
That must have been a heavy storm, enjoy your heatwave! :)
ReplyDeleteHow nature still clings to life. Beautifully portrayed.
ReplyDeleteWe are waiting for a storm with strong gusts of wind tomorrow ... will not be fun!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your picture! Thanks!
So beautiful
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of uprooted trees, but as you say they are too close to the water and erosion does the rest.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had too many problems with blogger except for the constant change of font size while the post is still in draft size. Every time I go back some of the lines have changed into a different font. I change it and the next time, something else has changed! Grrrrr!
Check at the top that you are in normal, not paragraph ;)
DeleteYou have the worst weather!
ReplyDeleteThanks for persevering to share with us, G!
