Yesterday was Australia Day, or as many appropriately call it 'Invasion Day'. We decided to do something a little different this year and once again were up at 5.00am to hike the Spectacles Aboriginal Heritage Trail in the Beeliar Regional Park. It was the perfect morning for a hike, the temperature lower than it has been for a while, although the early start was still a good idea. Show you the pics tomorrow. Along the way the sound of small insect eating birds flitting high up from tree to tree was a delight, trying to catch a shot was another story. The Rainbow bee-eaters above and below are so pretty, you can see their gorgeous colours much clearer in the one minute video HERE..
This little bird below teased me for a good ten minutes, darting here and there before landing, looking down at me as if to say 'this is your chance but you'd better be quick', not the best shot but what can you do right! P seems to think it is a grey fantail, its fantail looks a bit worse for wear. More from the walk tomorrow. Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..
...a happy belated Australia Day, what a wonderful way to spend it with nature.

A pretty little one.

ReplyDeleteCan wait to see the pictures tomorrow!
Very exotic indeed.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is a pretty wee bird.
ReplyDeletePretty little birds! It is nice to see blue sky and leaves. We have really windy conditions with snow. I'm just heading out to shovel! Yuck.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular little bird. Almost too jewel-like to be real.
ReplyDeleteYou always have the most interesting birds, and the Rainbow Bee-Eater is terrific.
ReplyDeleteWow fabulous photos, I love Bee-eaters they are spectacular. The Fantails looks a fun little bird.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and keep well Diane
The rainbow bee-eater is a pretty bird without being gaudy.
ReplyDeleteYes. For us to love our homelands, and to be true to them, we honor our aboriginal hosts in our culture and in law. Long time coming. You are such a great pal in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteWay Cool
ReplyDeleteCheers
Interesting birds.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
I’ve never seen a green bird, until today, twice. Such a beauty!
ReplyDeleteThe birds here seldom sit still long enough for a photo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds.
ReplyDeleteOh! I never knew, Grace! H lives in Kwinana and if I´d known...
ReplyDelete2C here, would you like that, LOL? 🤣
Birds. I just got a mystery Magpie flying in yesterday.

ReplyDeleteI like the black stripe that goes across his eye, continuing from his black beak. Cute little bird
ReplyDeleteGreat captures Grace. I keep on trying to photograph the honey eaters in my garden but they just dart back and forth and it's difficult to get a good picture.
ReplyDeleteThese are great photos of some pretty birds. What a great idea to do for Australia Day! I can't wait to see more photos.
ReplyDeleteWow, very nice little birds, fabulous photos Grace !
