It's a bit hard to hide when you have a bright pink/red wattle hanging down on each side of the head :) The jacaranda trees are beginning to bloom around Perth. The jacaranda is a tree that some people love and others love to hate. I think they are so pretty when in flower, très ordinaire when not, also I don't live on a jacaranda tree lined street so don't have to put up with the mess they cause and apparently every part of the tree is poisonous to humans.. not so to the red wattlebird, one of the larger nectar feeding birds, they were most impolitely gorging themselves, twisting this way and that to suck the nectar with their extra long tongue, the tip a 'brush like structure with over a hundred bristles to soak up the nectar' I did not know that did you :) Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..
Great photos. How I miss Jacaranda trees, so much part of my life. Take care Diane
ReplyDeleteWe certainly enjoy seeing both the tree in blossom and the birds enjoying them. Spring is such a great time of year.
ReplyDeleteDearest Grace,
ReplyDeleteOh my, that is one of my favorite blooming trees!
You are in heaven... we enjoyed them in Pretoria, South Africa at the time we were there and also while working in México and on vacation in Spain.
We tried to grow some ourselves but they cannot take any frost, especially when they're still young and tender... We lost all of them.
ENJOY and think of me.
Hugs,
Mariette
What a fabulous image!
ReplyDeleteNice capture of the birds and the tree, both are pretty.
ReplyDelete...we have seem jacaranda in Maui, but never in full flower. What a sight!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love the sight of jacaranda trees. The colour is stunning. We don't have them here, as far as I know but I did see them in Madeira when on holiday there.
ReplyDeleteThe trees are fabulous but those birds are wonderful too, Grace!
ReplyDeleteNo doubt keeping away any other bird species from the nectar. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteA pretty little bird.
ReplyDeleteI love the trees. Ours are starting to fall with the help of some wild storms. The bird, with the interesting tongue is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat's a bird I do not know! How interesting. Of course I love the jacaranda blooms. I do enjoy them, mess and all.
ReplyDeleteThe Jacaranda trees will be flowering here soon too, I just love their purple flowers.
ReplyDeletePlain beautiful, Grace, such a wonderful sight on this grey day! 🌺🌺🌺
ReplyDeleteNice pictures with all these purple flowers.
