Purple rain..

On the way home from a birthday party yesterday we stopped along one of the many jacaranda tree lined streets in Applecross, home each year in November to the Rotary Jacaranda Festival. I didn't make it to the festival on Saturday but wanted to take at least one shot, and this is it :) of the jacarandas before their flowers fall in a shower of purple rain. The jacaranda tree looks gorgeous standing alone but even more spectacular when creating a purple arbour don't you think? Happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

  1. What a lovely photo of a lovely area! When we lived in south Florida, I played golf at the Jacaranda Golf Course, so named because of all the beautiful jacaranda trees that dotted the area of play! Love your caption, too. Didn't Prince have a song called "Purple Rain"? I wouldn't know 'cause I never listened to his music, but you're a lot younger than I am so maybe you were a fan? :) Wishing you a great week ahead!

  2. Wow, those blossoms look great in your photo. I can see why there is a festival to celebrate them.

  6. I love to see these because, although Jacaranda trees will grow in this country, they seldom flower and never so spectacularly as in your part of the world.

  10. Ours are in bloom too but I am surprised that yours and ours bloom at the same time, well after Sydney's.

  14. This is gorgeous. We had these trees in California but not further north in Washington where we are now. These remind me of girls all dressed up for a spring formal dance.

  19. Oh wow, what a wonderful sight to see. I LOVE seeing jacaranda in bloom and when they line streets like this it is heavenly. I wish we had some streets like that here. Our jacaranda trees just seem to be scattered about.
