It's not often that something stops me in my tracks but as we rounded the corner on South Terrace in Fremantle there it was... on the wall of the
Norfolk Hotel.. an amazing piece of street art with a difference by world renowned
Portuguese artist Vhils. What made the unexpected discovery all the more exciting was that only a few weeks ago
JM in Lisbon sent me the above link and I thought how fantastic it would be to have some of his work here in Perth.. lo and behold, not quite in Perth but
this piece that he created for the Fremantle Street Art Festival earlier in the year is close enough, maybe Perth will get lucky next time :) I would have loved to see him in action! Happy Monday, or Sunday depending where you are, take care.....To see more murals from around the world click

What a coincidence, Grace! :-) I saw the thumbnail and immediatly recognized his work. Glad you found it. Love your top composition.
ReplyDeleteVery cool artwork! What an unexpected place to see it. No wonder you were surprised. Hope all's well in your world.
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your question, no, I've never seen him at work... Would you believe if I tell you the first work I saw was in London? :-) http://mendoncajose.blogspot.pt/2011/04/bernie-made-off.html

ReplyDeleteThat definitely commands attention, Grace!
ReplyDeleteI love street art and this is wonderful. There is much emotion in that face.
ReplyDeleteSimply superb!
ReplyDeleteWould've stopped me in my tracks too! Stunning find and images- I also love the expression on his face:)
ReplyDeleteThe color of that building could be in Lisbon. I like the way the face seems to burst out of the building.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool. Love your theme day shot too.
ReplyDeleteWow. How terrific. It would have made me stop too Grace. Street Art has really come into its own over the last 10 years. I do so admire talented artists painting "official" street art on walls. I do so condone the mindless tagging on public spaces and private property.

Very impressive work, and so beautiful! The artist gave a wonderful expression to those eyes!
ReplyDeleteThat is stunning. But I can't figure out if the artist just applied paint or if there is some surface sculpting too... maybe the surface was already that way and he just found a way to use it.
ReplyDeletePretty amazing, indeed, as there is so much detail.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing , you can join the Monday Mural theme with this one.
