I'm not sure what caught my eye first.. the car, the number plate or the magnificent mo! Something tells me M. Mario has been growing this
'handlebar' mustache for longer than the month of
'Movember'. Did you know that Movember began in Melbourne in 2003 with 30 'mo bros'.. in 2013 there are over 4 million mo's around the world raising money for men's health issues.. I wonder how many stay attached :) after the end of the month? Giving a little wave from across the street I was rewarded with a 'mochievous' (sorry) smile! Oh and about the car.. does anyone know what model it is? American I'm guessing! Hope your week has gotten off to a good start, take care.....
It almost looks false, doesn't it, Grace?
ReplyDeleteNow that's a mustache!
ReplyDeleteEarly 60s Chevy Bel? I'm just guessing. I don't really have any idea. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery impressive tash, was going to go for a Chevy but I think Revrunner got it
ReplyDeleteCool ride and driver.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea Mo-vember began in Australia! I do know that it's quite popular in Canada in the US, but it doesn't seem to have caught on in Germany. Probably because a lot of men wear a 'stache year round. :)
ReplyDeleteoh that's super!!
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure it is a 1959 Cadillac (I'm old enough to remember them :)). Love the photos, Grace, and I am impressed on the 'Movember' project. Wonderful idea and it is still going. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteA GREAT POST....... i am smiling .....i like that number plate
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Joop
It looks like an oldie-but-goodie Cadillac, but I'm no car expert that's for sure -- Loooooove the portrait, the crazy car and the license plate! Methinks he'd enjoy seeing this post:)
ReplyDeleteI don't know what it is , but it looks fantastic !
ReplyDeleteChevy ?
or a Ford sunliner ? but I can't see the Ford logo... difficult ! ciao
Dunno about the car but it's a nice wife... :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, Grace! Three fantastic things in only one photo! The car, the plate and the man with a mustache!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a 59 cadillac, definitely a caddy, nothing else looks like that.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Jess is not happy with Wayne's 'Mo' but he has to keep it until the donation cut off date (I think that's today) to raise as much as possible :o))

I'll go for Cadillac too.
ReplyDeleteGreat portrait of the mustachioed gentleman. That is most definitely a Cadillac. My dad had one very similar somewhere in the mid-50's.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Grace. It is a 1959 Cadillac . . . the high point for fins. Google 1959 Cadillac and you will see many images of this iconic car.
ReplyDeleteNo mo for me. I had one for about two months years ago before I regained my sanity.
Now that is one cool ride!
ReplyDeleteNow that's something to go cruise Route 66 in. Yes, American, Chevrolet, about '57 or '58, probably an Impala. The apogee of Detroit iron.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice 59 Caddie!
ReplyDeleteJack is correct about the car being a 1959 Cadillac convertible. I believe this is an Eldorado model. This was a high status model of a luxury car. These cars are huge and heavy so they are best at cruising and looking good. That is an amazing mustache. He really looks like one of the Mario Brothers.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a Cadillac. I had a friend in college in the 60's who finally had enough money to buy a new car. He got a VW Beetle. About a week later he was sitting at a red light and was rear ended by a big Cadillac.
ReplyDeleteHis car was a total loss, as the engine in the back was demolished. The only damage to the Cadillac was a license plate dented by the impact on his tail pipe.
His insurance company replaced the car with a new car, at a cost of thousands, but then sent him a bill for $2.48 for depreciation on his one week old muffler and tailpipe
I thought Cadillac too! Great 'stache!!!
ReplyDeleteLiked by Cadillac lovers and petrol bowsers taboot.
ReplyDeleteIm liking both the car and the man in this pic!! so full of character both!!

He looks very proud of his car and his wife? Did he ivited you for a ride?
ReplyDeleteA few years ago looked everywhere for moustache wax - barber shops, hair care product stores etc - I wonder what he uses? In any case, he looks as pleased as punch which makes for a lovely portrait.
ReplyDeleteVery striking car. My husband also grew a mustache and beard for Movember, but has only shaved off the beard this week and kept the mustache. I hated both!
ReplyDeleteCool car! My parents actually had one...back before they stopped being cool....
ReplyDeleteGuess his license tag means he's married to that car.
ReplyDeletemos-chevious!
ReplyDeleteMarried right! Arianna
ReplyDelete«Louis», whose Tuesday blog post is always about old cars, was delighted to see this '59 Cadillac!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Grace!
The car's good, but why does he consider that his wife....?
