Logically there shouldn't be any competition and there is a big push to increase the movement of containers
by rail up to 30%, which equates to a quarter of a million truck movements, to decrease the traffic congestion and pollution in and around Fremantle caused by these massive road trucks that still move the majority of freight, believe me being sandwiched between two of those monsters on the road can make you feel quite inadequate:) During my many visits to
Fremantle there has only been a couple of times when a freight train transporting containers to and from Fremantle inner harbour has stopped me crossing over to Fremantle city centre. The warning signal as the safety barriers came down gave me enough time to line up my shot with the
skyview wheel in the background as the train whizzed by, I quite like the result. Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe... catch up today!
A ferris wheel makes for a peculiar backdrop for a train!
ReplyDeleteThe second shot is quite crisp and compelling...
Love the ferris wheel shot and the ambiguity it creates. How clever of you to be in the right place at the right time, have a camera at the ready, take the time to compose the shot you wanted, and click. It makes me tired just thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteNice with the "Pariserhjul" behind the train.
ReplyDeleteI like the 2 pics very much, they're really unusual!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots again.
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Joop
What a contrast between the two photos, I like both!
ReplyDeleteGreat captures for the day, Grace, as always!! Traffic with so many BIG vehicles is a real pain!! I hope things get better in that respect and don't get in the way of the holidays coming up!! Hope your week is going well!
ReplyDeleteYes a great shot indeed
ReplyDeleteI like both shots. The movement in the second one turned out really great!
ReplyDeleteYes, the top shot is great but the second one is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThere should be more freight trains all over the country and free up the roads and lessen pollution. Great capture of the train and wheel.Take care on those crossings.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great shot! I can even see the engineer in there keeping his eye on the tracks.
ReplyDeleteI like both shots for different reasons.Love the way you show the motion of the train in the second one.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a giant roller coaster at the fair.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, Grace!
ReplyDeleteNever knew you had trains there. How about a photo of a roadtrain. The photo of the train is great and looks good with the wheel in the background
ReplyDeleteLove the beauty of the colors in the top shot, and the energy captured in the bottom b&w! Great photographic tribute to an important part of modern life.
ReplyDeleteWhile some trucks are essential, far more freight should be moved by rail. Sadly there are too many vested interests with connections to political parties. I have heard of 'train orders' but I not sure what they are. Maybe instead of the train being controlled by signals, the driver has written instructions.
ReplyDeleteYou are on FIRE! I love that top shot; True Art!

A simply stunning juxtaposition Grace- lovely colour too!
ReplyDeleteThat top photos is really special. Well done, Grace.
ReplyDeletelove the colors!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely about the wisdom of shipping large quantities of goods by rail rather than down the highways.
ReplyDeleteHow cool! Two wonderful pictures, I'm delighted by the motion in your second shot! Great job!
ReplyDeleteLéia
Trains are the way to transport goods. But here in Canada we have had a few runaway trains, lately. They NEED good brake systems!
ReplyDeleteI really like that B&W shot!!!
ReplyDeleteThe first image is superrrrr
