Yesterday we were in Guildford, one of Perth's oldest suburbs on the hunt for six bentwood dining chairs, I'll tell you why tomorrow :) Guildford has many antique and 'used' furniture shops and I was pretty sure that Jones of Guildford on James St. would have what I was after. Pfffft! can you believe, turns out they are CLOSED on a Thursday! We did however find an unexpected surprise off the main road... hidden away around the corner the tres charming entrance above (magnificent Oleander tree) to a small group of eclectic shops and... the Paris Cafe!
If anything is going to cheer me up on a futile trip chances are it would involve une petite surprise française. It was a wee bit too hot yesterday to sit in the pretty courtyard but I think when the weather is cooler it would be an excellent spot to watch the comings and goings....
There were no disappoints inside either, while we waited for our cafe au lait and lemon tart there were all sorts of interesting goodies for moi to peruse.. no luck today with the bentwood chairs but a super spot for the return visit! Have a fab Friday, take care.....
What a great little place! I love to find places like that "by accident"! Those somehow make any trip worthwhile!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Grace!!
ReplyDeleteThe interior is delightful! Great shots too!

What a cute place. It looks very appealing. Good luck with your search.
ReplyDeleteAs is typical of me, my eyes were immediately drawn to the bike and the sign hanging from it.
ReplyDeleteGreat find. I would return to the Paris Cafe to check out their food and beverage.
ReplyDeleteTarte au citron meringuée ? Hmmmmm. And what an absolutely charming place!
ReplyDeleteAn interesting shoppe and with coffee, too! Gave a nice weekend Grace.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to know there's a small french corner so far away from home! Does the place belong to french people or to australians that love France like you do?..
ReplyDeleteCe café est vraiment joli. Merry Christmas, dear Grace! Ciao
ReplyDeletePerfect spot for you! How fun to find a new place and what a gem it is. Love the way you put this post together, Grace. Fun to look at and read!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they had almond croissants, Grace? I've been craving a good one since I got back from Paris!
ReplyDeleteAn enchanting little place. Intriguing decor creates a beautiful atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteAha this would have been right up your alley Grace - good find!! The hung tapestries? are exquisite!! What a little gem!
ReplyDeleteIt is a great looking cafe. Maybe it is time for Perth to have outdoor fans with a water misting facility. They do take the edge of the heat.
ReplyDeleteAntique shops! Sounds like my kind of place.
ReplyDelete"a bit too hot to sit outside". those words almost warm my heart. but the coffee would also help.
ReplyDeleteHow charming to find a hidden slice of Paris... in Perth! The red bicycle completes the Paris scene.
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
What a cute find! I love your first shot - it could almost be in Paris. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's cute, and I love the wrought iron bench outside!
ReplyDeleteSo nice you still find new places in your city, you didn't know yet. Looks like a pretty place for a coffee indeed.
ReplyDeleteWell, no chairs for you today but what a find! Charming little spot! Hope you are having a good weekend too,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a fun place to explore. They had plenty of things but not your chairs, bad luck.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of a store being closed on Thursdays.
ReplyDeletewhat a great surprise!...and yeah, who closes on thursday?!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely surprise and treat to offset the disappointment of a closed shop. Have a happy week-end!
ReplyDeleteTrès bien, Grace :-) Ahhh, too hot. Send some of the heat over please, icy roads today :-(
ReplyDeleteToday I heard "Purple Rain" on the radio and had to think of you. Because... I had to see the film in France, means in French, when I was 14. Two tough hours ;-)
I have some pics for your hubs over at my place btw.
quelques bouteilles attire mon regard
ReplyDeleteHow perfect por vous!
